I went to the MET today. The last time I was there was the first time I went to New York back in 2006. Before going I thought I didn't remember anything at all, but I actually remembered being in the part of the Egyptian section with the large body of water and temple buildings. It sure did bring back some memories.

To me the best part of the museum was seeing the paintings from the impressionism era.
I love that place. But My favorite has always been the Museum of Natural History.

Me too. :D Eating is way better than being drunk. The most drinks I've ever had was 3 1/2 spaced out over four hours, with food in between drinks. I was a bit tipsy, but not drunk. It was also at a graduation party, so it was free. And the person for whom the party was given is someone I really don't like, so I found the person much more tolerable after a few drinks.:hilarious:

There's a family history of alcoholism, so I'm extremely careful. The fact that I'm cheap is probably not a bad thing when it comes to alcohol.

I had the liter beer in Germany. It was soooo good. Not enough to get you drunk

woooooow.. thats quite a story.. what the hell on the beating of that man o_o
It was 3 men in the guy's family. I don't know what he did to insult them, but they got mad and decided to beat the guy up. They knew he'd be at the school to pick up his kids at that time, so they waited in the bushes for him. DD said she heard that their father told them NOT to beat him up and they did anyway, but I don't know where DD heard it or if it's reliable. I DID hear from my DS's teacher that their class had JUST walked back from PE (the gym is in a side building) and if they had been 2 minutes later walking back, they'd have been walking through it. They were in the hall putting away their bags and the teacher was hanging up the gym key when a mom came running in screaming to call the police, and then they noticed the little girl, who I guess was only 1.5 (hopefully she won't remember) so the teacher told her to grab the girl and get her inside and then they locked the doors. At that time, they didn't know it was family of the guy and they were worried that they might come into the school when they finished with the guy. So they locked the door and as the teacher got into the hall where the kids were, the hall was full of the kids from other classes, all standing at the windows. There's a door at the end of the hallway, and one of the other teachers was shouting at them to stop, but they didn't, so she ran out the door and jumped in between the guy and the attackers. (Really not a smart thing to do, especially as they were all armed with metal pipes and they were apparently big guys.) The guys ran and were picked up by police later, and the victim was treated and released. The teacher who got in the middle (DD's teacher from last year) got a bag of candy from one of her students this morning, for being so brave last week. She was in the teachers lounge mopping her eyes when I was grabbing a bandaid for DS. I really like her...and she's really strong. Last year she was sporting a black eye for a week or so because she took a hockey stick to the head. She's just one of those people who is a total super hero. Someone ought to get her a cape. http://www.gelderlander.nl/regio/ac...in-doetinchem-1.6401185#.V9wgFqf7YwU.facebook It's in dutch, but maybe google translate might work?

Well, yesterday turned out to be quite the day.

Some sad news today. After a prolonged illness, my wife of 29 years passed away last evening. Although we were divorced several years ago, I spent almost half my life as her husband while we grew a life, raised a great family, operated a business and generally worked through the many trials and tribulations of life.

She was a woman of many accomplishments including two Masters Degrees, one in Nursing and the other in Gerontology and many other talents as well. She was not without her problems, but, overall did the best she could against many personal hardships. I am going to do my best to remember the good times, the dreams and the successes because in the long haul that is all that really matters. Rest In Peace, Gail!
I am so sorry for your loss. It sounds like it was maybe a blessing from what you've said in the past. It can't have been fun living the way she was. But it's still so sad, especially for your kids. How are they handling it?

We have everything bad*** backwards in this house. I can't open the stove if hubby is unloading dishwasher. I can't open drawers to unload dishwasher. Refrigerator is in the way. Bathroom door only opens 3/4 . So many issues. Not to mention they showed us a right handed person kitchen, and our house ended up for a left handed person. I wanted to cancel the contract, they also didn't fulfill the contract on the yard. Hubby didn't want to change. We went ahead a bought the house. His request. Rant over. If only......
There are left and right handed kitchens???

Well, we went to my mom's dentist and after x-rays and all he said the extra teeth were normal and the other teeth underneath (which all fell out once already) were her baby teeth and will eventually fall out. Ummmmm, no they aren't dude! Darn waste of my time there. So I'm working with my insurance to get a second opinion. In the x-ray it shows she has six extra teeth.
Wow!!! Poor girl! Are they permanent or baby teeth?

It is so cool when celebrities dedicate the seconds it takes to do something like autograph an item for a foundation. $1600 will do so much for the charity. A no hurt contribution to a great cause.
I've read that Taylor Swift does a LOT of stuff like that. She's one of the most philanthropic celebrities in her age group. JKR is like that, too. She's donated so much money to various causes that she's no longer a billionaire. I think it's awesome when they give back like that.

If she were a man, no way would anyone scrutinize her health as they have. I don't support either party, but I have a great deal of respect for what she had to go through as a woman to get where she is today.

And that is the last I will say on that subject.
I don't want to get in trouble for being political, so I'll just leave this here.

It's not entirely health related, but it relates to the topic of how women are seen as compared to men.

I wasn't prohibited from either eating or drinking in labor even once they sped things up.:joyfull:
Ugh...with my DD, I went into the hospital in the middle of the night and they wouldn't let me eat. I delivered about an hour AFTER dinner time...they had given my dinner tray to my husband since I wasn't allowed to eat. And then I FINALLY was given 2 slices of bread at 9pm. That's all I got in about 36 hours. at 9:30 the next morning, they gave me another 2 slices of bread for breakfast. I was STARVING by the time we left the hospital.

Cats can be even more demanding than dogs can be. Especially if they want attention. A dog will stand in front of you when it wants attention, but when you ignore them, they eventually leave you be, even though they look sad about it. A cat that wants attention will stand on you, lay on top of what you're doing, walk across your keyboard, get as close to you as possible...basically, they make it impossible for you to ignore them. And try going back to sleep when there's a cat that wants breakfast...it doesn't happen.:hilarious:
My dog used to curl up next to me and put his nose under my hand when he wanted to be petted. He made it pretty impossible to ignore him.

Taylor Swift gets a lot of carp, but honestly, she really doesn't deserve it. She's not the best singer, but her songs are amazing. She constantly interacts with her fans over social media. She donates so much money. It seems like people figured out she's not perfect when they thought she was, so she gets flack unfairly.

When he starts using your chest as a shelf and putting his body against your face when he wants attention, and then starts giving your really hard head butts, let me know. Or if your face isn't within reach, paws up your leg with the claws out. :hilarious:

Dogs ask nicely when they want attention. Cats demand their staff to worship them. :joyfull:
