We haven't had a kid like this in a long time. The special ed teachers are trying their best but this kid just doesn't follow anything but his own agenda. But long story short he wasn't in public school last year and they are "trying it" this year. There is a meeting scheduled soon to see how it is going. So hopefully we can get this kid in the right setting, because right now it isn't the regular ed classroom. The rest of the students are doing their best to ignore him but even they can take so much, and for that matter they shouldn't have to put up with it. I can actually see the rest of the students tense up and relax based on if this other kid is in the room or not.

Absolutely. That's too much of a distraction to the other students. I'd also worry that they might start to poke fun at him, in due course. In other words, maybe it's just not the best situation for anyone all around. I hope you all can reach a reasonable resolution to this problem. (My heart also goes out to this boy with the problems--imagine living your life like that. Sad.)

Oh my. I wouldn't know how to deal with someone like that. Is there any kind of social services person assigned to your district who could help out the teachers with this type of (disturbed) behavior from a student? I mean someone who could offer some professional advice in how to deal with him.

Here we have a 3 strike system and it can take up to 3/4 of one school year but they do get booted to and all 'contained' environment. So much bureaucracy but the rest of the students need to have a learning environment. If they develop they can come back to an inclusion classroom but it rarely happens.

Tiny towns like ours the sheriff doesn't mess with the locals. We support our both our Sheriff's office and fire department. A mutual respect. We have had family and friends get tickets for overnight parking on road and we forget to call in. The sheriff two properties down usually removes the citations from the windshield. He doesn't want issues with his neighbors. I take in his mail and watch over his Pup when gone, he watched over Walt for years (and man across the road) it is a small town thing.

Ours is coming up in 32 days. I start packing at 30. It's a short 5 day trip. Getting excited. We will skip Hollywood Studio's with so much down. And possibly animal kingdom. We like Epcot's food and wine. I love to try small bites of the food. And Magic Kingdom for rides and shows. We like the shows in Epcot. France is my favorite. I love the music to that show.

I usually start packing at about day 3. ;)

Why was it stupid? Wasn't there any good food?
We took an Uber to Epcot, 4th bus stop on our rsesort loop. Our stop had at least 2 bus loads just at that stop. Get to Epcot and they had added additional bag checks. and the lines were a half a block long each. Then they were having magic band tech isues and the lines to get in were a sea of guests.

Today was hot and sunny, humid. Every blogger under the sun and press was there for the 11am opening running around snapping photos, weaving in and out trying to be the first to post the photos and menus this morning. A convention of elderly folk mostly all with scooters rented from the same place, none of them could seem to use. Food smells were kinda gross in the 90's.

I went into America instead watched show then got in the middle of newbies on scooters exiting. All and all because of the rain at Epcot last evening and the Bell Ringing to start F&W made for lots and lots guests that aren't the norm. Had a holiday feel to it with the insane guests

And I thought I was having a bad week. ;) Ain't working just a thrill??!!
That was only some of what was going wrong today. I've had two different people email me and say that they couldn't call us. And the other manager, who is supposed to check the HR email when I'm not there, has not been checking it, so the email hadn't gotten checked since Monday when I left the office at noon. :grumpy: I was supposed to have an intern in today, but she called in sick. We had a computer that was set up, and then we realized that it needed to use the Ethernet connection, not the WiFi, and we had to set it up again in another corner that reached the ethernet line. And to top it all off, the printer wasn't working, so we had to fix that. This was all between 9 am and 12 pm. I was so glad I was not there the whole day.

Oh, and the owner will be working out of this office on Friday for most of the day. When I'm there all day.

I only agreed to stay with this job through December. At this rate, I don't think I will be asking to come back if my job continues to be this hectic and the owner doesn't learn to trust that I'm handling everything and he doesn't need to micromanage. I did all this stuff as an intern over the summer, before that I did this exact same job with another insurance company. My next door neighbor, the one who I've house sat for, is a head hunter, and she's told me if I'm not happy at my current job, she can help place me. Or maybe I'll think about moving to Florida. Maybe.

Sounds like you're doing a really good job. Regardless, it still takes time to build up your cred with a new boss; and that's pretty much the rule, no matter where you work, or who you work for. Give it time. :)

The thing is that I'm not the only one he tends to micromanage, which is why I'm kind of concerned. Hopefully time will tell, though.

It's more that the firm's owner, who normally is either on appointments or in the other office, was in the office today. It's much calmer when he's not there. I like him well enough, and when you talk with him personally and when he's not stressed, he's one of the nicest people you'll ever meet, but good grief, he comes in the office and it's chaos. He tends to be too much of a micro-manager when he's in the office.

For instance, today, we found out one of our phone lines wasn't working, and we only have two in the office. When I figured this out, and figured out that the problem was that the phone connected to that line is old and not working, I called his wife, who is our HR manager and my supervisor. She gave some instructions on what to do, and then when we figured out we couldn't do anything, she said she'd take care of the problem tomorrow. The other manager and I decided that we would each make calls, and the other would handle other stuff that needs doing (checking the email, updating the appointment tracker, etc.) The owner was in the middle of doing sales calls, so I couldn't exactly tell him what was going on with the phone lines. Then he wants to know why we're only using one line and why we didn't tell him. Um...because I handled it? You hired me to be a manager; that entails handling stuff that comes up, right? Not to come crying to you every time something like that comes up? So you can focus on doing sales, which is what you're good at? Which, fyi, if I had told him, he would have told me to call his wife. But I didn't say that. I told him we had already talked to his wife and the phone was getting replaced tomorrow.

At least he didn't have me send his texts or emails. He'll sometimes do that. He really needs to learn to use a computer.
I don't want to sound disparaging, but, you are talking about life. The firms owner has everything on the line, you have a single job. He/She may have life savings, home mortgages, debt up the tutu and people putting pressure on him/her to produce. Might even be something as simple as a bank that wants to see better returns. So, yes, he/she will be a royal pain in the butt when around. They will micro-manage because, frankly, it is their business. If they don't have the right to want to see it their way, who does? One mistake that employees make quite often is the idea that because you are a "manager" means you are completely in-charge, that is not true. What a business owner hires a manager for is to operate his/her company the way he/she wants to see it running. Unless, they come right out and say... do whatever you want, that is what is expected. They want you to make sure it is run the way they want it run. You, as management, are there to stand in for the involved owner, not take over unless that is specifically in your job description. A manager has to work within the confines of the wishes of the owner. The only one in any company that can do things exactly like they want to, would be the owner, no one else. Everyone else works under the directions and philosophy of the owner.

Ok, time for a bad teacher comment.....
I have a student this year who is VERY E.B.D & O.D.D (emotionally & behaviorally disturbed and oppositional defiant disorder). I mean we are talking about the student barking in class, scooting on his butt around the room, basically any bad behavior you can think of he has probably done it. And it isn't just in my class it is in all his classes. Anyway, I gave a quiz today and because he is in Special Ed he doesn't take quizzes or tests in the regular classroom. So it was so peaceful in class today I told the Special Ed teacher that I'm going to give a quiz every day so this kid isn't in there. She didn't think that was funny, mostly because she is at her wits end with this kids too.
Can you imagine being the parents of a kid like that? If you're exhausted just dealing with him after an hour, imagine how the parents must feel having to live with that behavior and dealing with it on a daily basis.

Makes me glad for my brother. He's in all special ed classes, but really has no behavioral issues. I drove him a few years ago to his summer speech classes, and some of the kids at the school...my goodness. His worst problem is that he tends not to pay attention in class. Which isn't all that different from his sister, tbh. For example, I was going to start my Econ homework about 30 minutes ago...

I totally understand. I forgot for a moment it was opening day of F&W.
