Delta is famous for doing that. That's one of the reasons why I switched (years ago) away from Delta and over to Jet Blue. (I'm not sure if Jet Blue flies out of your area.) Seems to me like you made an effort at selecting an appropriate flight down when you first booked this. Things sometimes happen, and I think that your boss will understand--it's not like you're constantly asking for favors, you know?
Delta stinks as an airline. We are stuck with United, also not good. Maybe you should call the airline and see if they will switch you to another carrier, at not charge, of course. It can't hurt to try.

I wonder if lotche is forced to go into that show because he lost almost all his sponsors thanks to the olympics snafu.
I think he had signed a contract to do DWTS before all this happened. They've had quite a few Olympic athletes in the past come on the show. Probably he didn't drop out because he lost his sponsors and could use the income. Although in the past, they've also had celebrities who didn't have great reputations come in and the show helps them improve their reputations. Doesn't always happen, but the ones who genuinely are not jerks have the opportunity to show that.

Rant: I despise the first few weeks of September. Traffic on roads triples; my buses are late, I miss the trains, and I was late for work yesterday. Have to get on an even earlier bus now. At work, I had to deal with a new conference registration program, but of course, nothing was working. Why? Because the idiots that forced the system down our throats didn't take into effect that 85% of the computers (hospital-wide) are not upgraded, so the dandy new reservation system doesn't work for the average user. (After wasting a few hours on this and losing my mind, I had to call an IT buddy of mine. He put through the group of 240 reservations via his computer, which has all the bells and whistles, because he's an IT guy.)

Then, management is always harping on budget and not to order any extra, expensive supplies, except on an "as needed" basis. So our color printer goes on the fritz, due to a part needed, and the boss has a hissy fit because we don't have one in our stock. I explained that the IT people told us (a few years ago) to not order an extra one (the part is over $300), because the part only gets replaced about every 3 years. They weren't sure how long the actual printer might last. We didn't want to (potentially) get stuck with a part that might never be used, if the printer croaked. So the stupid part is now needed, and the boss conveniently forgets that all they do is ram down our throats, to NOT spend money -- unless it affects them, I guess . . .  :banghead: :banghead: End of rant.
Management has always been out of the loop, for the working person. Why do they retain their jobs? They rise to a level of total ignorance.

Sympathy like. Traffic has been worse here since school started too. My office is 30-45 minutes from home, but it's been taking me more like an hour to get there. I have the key, so I just have to make sure I'm there before 9 am to let the brokers working out of that office in. I plan to get there at 8:15-8:30, but if I'm stuck in traffic and get there later than I intended, no worries. No public transportation; it doesn't reach out to my house or to the office. That's MD for ya.

Sympathy like on the boss situation as well. My boss tends to forget things as well. I chalk it up to him being busy and going 30 different directions at once.

perhaps they protect each other? management can be quite corrupt and grab the chair they are on very hard. Some even lie and blame other employees.. or even eat the victories of the ones below them to inflate themselves.
