It is always tough to lose a parent, even if that parent hasn't been terribly involved in the years since our divorce except for a few minor occasions a year. I guess that the actual presence of parents is reassuring to ones children. I haven't, by her earlier wishes, been able to be involved in her life at all. I don't know if at this point that still holds, but, I am trying to respect her wishes and have not been there. I have to admit that I am not all that anxious to see her in this condition and would rather remember her as she was, anger and all, then to see the degree that she has deteriorated since then. I will be there to help them and involved at the conclusion, but, right now it just seems to be a waiting game. Who knows, she's always been pretty resilient, perhaps she will pull herself through it. I do feel for the girls, both are starting to wonder if they made the right decisions about a year ago, but, I have spent a lot of time talking to them about how they cannot expect to know how these things will work out no matter what one does. Some of it is not in our hands. Thanks for your concern.

I totally understand you wanting to keep your last images of her more as you remembered her in the past. It has taken me a couple of years for me to think of my mother and not have the images of her dying in the hospital be the first ones that pop up in my mind. Now usually when I think of her I get an image of her wearing my Mickey Mouse ears at the Polynesian from back in 1987. That makes me smile.

The pup and I just got back from a walk and I can tell it is fall just by looking at the cornfield. The place that has horses had a horse out, we haven't seen one in awhile and my dog was transfixed. So we watched it for awhile. I didn't take any pictures because the people were by their barn so I didn't think they would like me taking pictures. I laughed when the horse started rolling on the ground because that is what kapono does in her yard!

similar to concruds, aka a cold or flu like illness (that affect the stomatch as well) after a long trip where tons of people congregate.
the usual name is CONCRUD, because you get these AFTER conventions.
I wish you guys wouldn't talk about stuff like that because I can go on all kinds of travel, airplanes, trains, cross the Atlantic in a ship, touch everything in the theme parks that my hands can possibly legally grab onto and I don't get sick at all. But, you are placing suggestions in my head so now I can't go on anymore vacations because of CONCRUD! Please keep your illnesses to yourself... I don't want to share that stuff. ;)

Or overcompensating for something :cautious:
speaking of overcompensating, I was laughing at my mom because the overcompensating is extremely usual in miami beach area.
all macho man who wear pink polo shirts, all muscular.. all seem to "compensate" by riding a big truck (mostly Ford lobos or bigger).
In the other side, "punk" ladies loved to settle with mustangs (girls that dress punkish with spikes and bright hair colors with wild haircuts).
also... the classic "trophy wife" ( super white girl with clearly painted blonde hair, fake suntan and wearing 90's leothards with prints) all were riding Porshes or other high end sports cars (seen one that looked like a McLaren but it didnt had the McLaren logo so I suppose it was a Saleen).

We have that too, it's a life saver. And the heat is great in the winter too.

Pretty sure I've shared this here before, but...
Years ago, one of the partners had a new Jaguar with the heated seats. He and a builder were heading out to a job site in his car during one of the cooler months, when the builder finally told partner that he was feeling warm and weird. o_O :hilarious:
Yep, the partner had turned both of the seat heaters up when they got in the car, and the builder had no clue...!!! :joyfull:
They both had a good laugh after he explained...! :hilarious:

Hey, not my fault that some people still refuse to wash their hands after going to the loo.
Seen that a lot (strangely, it seems very usual in houston.. like 40% of the men who go to the bathrooms I go, DO NOT WASH THEIR HANDS WHAT THE HELL)

Anyway, my concrud is probably for eating something that didnt fell right to my stomatch. causing stomatch issues thus heartburn and thus cold. As I wash my hands vigorously and I'm meticulously clean.

I used to grow those in Kansas , so beautiful.

Indeed! They are sooo beautiful with the pink and yellow fading into each other. And the fragrance is beyond wonderful and calming.
We used to have a bush of those right outside the front door, and I would "Stop and smell the roses" every single time I passed them when they were in bloom.
As with too many things, that bush got neglected while I was working multiple retail jobs for all those years.
It's more than past time to plant another one in that spot.

It really depends on what they are doing in there... unless they pee on their hands the body parts are not anymore germ laden then anyone else is. The other stuff... yes, I agree, but, really how dirty do you think people are anyway. I would think that 40% is about the right balance of the aforementioned functions. You wash your hands and are meticulously clean and yet you get sick easily. Don't you wonder why? Let your immune system do it's job. My opinion, I realize, but, I have been pretty healthy all my life with no continuous virus and antibiotic related issues.

I am at the age where we are warned constantly about how dangerous it is for us to get the flu, etc. I get the shots because I'm not stupid, however, it has been almost three years since I have even had a cold. When I do have problems they are not contact related. I eat anything that isn't "slimy" and never have stomach issues. Just lucky? Maybe, but, I do not plan to change my habits.

Well, it's good to have a phone if for no other reason than for emergency purposes. Even a flip phone on a pay as you go plan so that you can reach someone in case of an emergency or so you can be reached in case of an emergency.

Yep, I'm not that much younger than a lot of the older folks on this site, and I can't imagine not having a cell phone with me.
I can't even count the number of times it's come in handy when we needed communication and we were away from landlines. If for no other reason, peace of mind is worth it for me.
