Thanks. We ran away from our grief
I'm so glad to hear that. Keep busy, get away, to distract yourselves. Do something new. It might just help. I was told from a grief counselor, to give myself 10 minutes a day to grieve. Punch a pillow, cry your eyes out. Say every 4 letter word, think of snow. And then put it away. You can repeat each day until you are finished with the grieving process. This worked wonders for me. I admit, it was hard the first few days. But slowly it got better.

We have had chip and pin here for years and can't understand why it is taking so long to become the standard across the pond.
For the same reason that we never took to the metric system... we don't want too. I still don't understand what is so secure about it. If someone steals your card they can still use it. It's hardly fool proof. I did use mine a lot in Europe, but, I almost never use it here in the states.

Not if they don't know yout pin. Previously they just had to forge your signature.

I never used or even had a pin with my chip encrusted credit card. All I did was sign my name just like always and it has been the same thing here. Locally, or in the states, I use my debit card most of the time. That one doesn't have a chip but I do have to use a pin number and always have. So, I still don't see what the advantage is. There must be some important other point that I am missing about it.

Debit cards are the only cards with pin codes here.

Credit cards either have you sign or use your zip code.

According to Visa's website, the benefit it that it makes it harder to forge your card

Visa chip cards are not only more secure, they are also simple to use. Chip cards and terminals work together to protect in-store payments. A unique one-time code is generated behind-the-scenes that is needed for the transaction to be approved - a feature that is virtually impossible to replicate in a counterfeit card.
