I was 38 when I was first diagnosed with HBP. At the time it was 200/100. They wouldn't let me leave the Doctors office, in fact, I had to lay down until it dropped. I'm not sure how, after they tell you that it's that high and not to move because it will blow out some major arteries, that you can get the pressure down. That's a lot of stress right there. I had the next several years (two and a half decades to be exact) with it controlled but always a little high 140/90. Then I changed Doctors. She gave me a different regiment of basically the same medicine and almost immediately and ever since (5 years now) I have never seen it above 120/74. Keep the faith, sometimes all it takes is a little tweaking and things straighten out. It's always good to have a new set of eyes looking at the situation.

BTW, it had nothing to do with my weight loss. At 38 I was much lighter then I am now.
Thanks so much for the kind words of encouragement. Both parents had high blood pressure, and it continued to rise until they died of heart disease. I'm supposed to go to a cardologist, that teaches how and what to eat, and what to watch out for. I know the usual suspects, chips, packaged food, eating out. It's going to be a challenge to lower my carbs. (love bread), and follow a fresh food diet. It's hard to get anything fresh in Colorado, especially in the winter. Hubby and I said going to a new Dr., is probably a good thing. Thanks for thinking about me.:happy::happy:

Well, it's muggy out today, so not too much outdoor activities for me. I did a few errands this morning; and at home, I also sorted through a few piles of clothing that I don't wear anymore. So, I put them in a bag and will take them up to the Goodwill truck tomorrow morning.

Other than that, I just flopped on the sofa and watched tv. :D Don't ask me what I watched, because I don't know--I just kept hitting the up and down button on the remote. :p It's blissful to be a vegetable on the sofa and do absolutely nothing for a few hours.

Tonight we go out to dinner, but hubs and I always go out to dinner on Friday nights. Basically, I just enjoyed a day away from work!!! :joyfull:
That the best kind of day....doing nothing. I came back home from the Dr. and had a jammie day. I watched two movies, the stress really got to me. I'm better now. It was cool and rainy today.

Sounds like you had a good day! I did a little sorting through some clothes type things today (my sock drawer mostly). I have the socks I discarded in a bag I will either send them to the reservation in South Dakota our church is partnering with or to a homeless shelter in Minneapolis. I saw a news story last winter that the homeless shelters are always in need of socks. I hope you have a nice Friday dinner.

That's always my problem, too. There are so many awesome things. I've been to Paris twice, both times for 3 or 4 days and I still haven't seen everything. And that's just Paris.

I'm a little jealous that you have been to Paris twice (I've only been once) and you live fairly close. At least closer to me. Have you ever gone to Disneyland Paris? If I lived where you did I would try to get there often.

I've been to Paris twice as well. Can I get a little jealousy directed toward me? First time in 1967 and the second in 2015. I managed to get to Disneyland Paris on the second trip because the first time it was very, very hard to find.

DD came home from school and said they are going to give her Spanish in place of English. I'm so happy about this because she was HATING the English. Since she already speaks, the teacher was having her help with lesson prep while the other kids were doing English lessons. And when she DID do the English lessons, it was all stuff she has known since she was 2. So she's very happy, and Spanish was her first choice, too. I told her that she has to come home and teach me everything she learns.
DS is struggling with emotional development, so they asked me for permission to sign him up for a special program. Apparently this week has been a tear fest. He burst into tears today because the kid who went around to collect everyone's worksheets forgot his. And Wednesday, he burst into tears because he couldn't get his PE shirt off. The teachers said it's been tears with EVERYTHING, so hopefully this program will help. He might not qualify until the spring...he's only 8 and all the other 4th graders are at least 9, some of them already 10, and I THINK this program starts at 9, but we'll see.

By the way, can someone please take this heat now?? I could handle it if there was somewhere I could go with Air Conditioning, but even keeping the curtains closed all day, it was 83.3 F downstairs, which means closer to 90 upstairs. And work doesn't have any air co to speak of upstairs, which is where I mostly work, so I'm sure it was more than 90 there today too. I need a break!!

That is nice that she will learn Spanish and know 3 languages. I could take a little of your heat, we were at 72 today. It was a little chilly when I was relaxing in the hammock. I think @MinnieM123 would like me to take a little of her heat too.

Took the cat to the vet today for her annual checkup. She's in perfect health and the vet said it was one of the easiest exams she's ever had. Belle was trying to squirt away, but no biting on complaining while in the office, and she went right back in her carrier when the exam was done.

Even getting her into the carrier to go to the vet wasn't hard. I went to the basement to get the carrier. She followed me down, but thankfully didn't see the carrier. I picked her up, cuddled her, and stuck her right in. She went in without picking a fight, just meowed very loudly over the whole indignity of the thing. :hilarious:

I'm glad your vet visit went well. My dog hates going into the vet office, she knows if we turn a certain way on the road that the vet is the destination. I have to half drag her in, good thing she is under 20 pounds so I can easily carry her if I need to.

Sure I'll send you a little envy too. I can imagine in 1967 Disneyland Paris was very hard to find! :joyfull: I'm hoping in a few years I'll be able to take my second trip to Paris and to DLP. If not in 7 years, I have promised my niece a trip to Paris for her high school graduation (if she gets good grades and has a good post-high school plan).

Yes, the last part was a joke (about not being able to find it in 1967) but, to answer your question, it is about 45 minutes to an hour by train from the center of Paris. Easy to get too, as it has a stop right at the entrance to Disneyland. Cheap too, I think it only cost us about 5 Euro's round trip.
