I like my Resort Mugs. Each trigger memories of specific trips. Family got a little OCD about always wanting to stay at PO (now FQ). For one 2 week trip I deemed it was my turn to pick. I always planned, packed etc these trips each year, sometimes 2x a year. We had only stayed at Dixie once and it was a January February trip so I wanted to go back in the fall. So when they would not budge I booked Dixie Landing cause you know I couldn't get PO for the entire 2 week trip, so I theoretically had to book Dixie by default. :cautious: Evil I know. After that trip Dixie/POR became our favorite resort and remained that way. That Dixie mug I got on that trip still makes me smile.

The Animal Kingdom Lodge mug was an amazing week trip for 4th of July. As AP holders we were asked to move from POR reservations to the newly opened AKL at no additional charge. Then Walt Disney Travel overbooked their airline leg of the trip, gave us $400 in Disney $$ to switch from a 7am flight to a 10 am flight. When they checked in they couldn't find our Disney Dollars so they gave us $400 in Disney $$ from their stash. A day later on our table was the packet with $400 in Disney Dollars and 4 resort mugs for our troubles. I went to the desk and they said oh just keep them. :D The AKL triggers the memories of an upgrade to a Deluxe Resort, 4 free mugs and $800 in Disney Dollars for the trip all for the trade off of 3 hours. Not bad, not bad at all. Dang that was a great trip.
Boy, I wish we had luck like that! That would have been fabulous!!

We didn't plan at all before going to Disney. It was usually a spur of the moment thing. We drove and just went when hubby could take a few days off. We were on a very strict budget back in the day. Just after college, a small child, and debts up the wazoo....insurance didn't kick in , when baby was born, she was three days early, and we weren't covered under my work insurance until 3 days later. I'm glad things turned around after many lean years. We didn't stay in a Disney resort, and only did a couple days, and went to Silver Springs, or the beach. Those were cheap and fun too.
That's what we did, too! We stayed with my mom's aunt and uncle, first when they lived in Ft. Lauderdale, and then again later when they moved to Leesburg. We did miami sea quarium one year because Sea World was too expensive. And we did Silver Springs and the Everglades another time. We always had a great time.

If you have a stainless steel sink in your kitchen and rub your fingers over it for a few seconds, it will counter affect the watery eyes you can get from slicing onions. Seriously. I saw that on a cooking show one time, and I've done that many times since. So apparently, it's the same remedy whether you're working with onions or garlic. (Onions -- steel sink method for soothing watery eyes, and garlic -- steel sink method to remove the smell from your hands.)
Yep, I do this. I clean the sink with bleach first, and then rub my fingers over it and it works wonders.

I'm one who hates, really hates the taste of beer. Still I enjoy Beer Batters and Beer based fondues. Like many other ingredients it gets lost in the overall ingredients. But I stop short of your fine use of Beer as a Hair Rinse. I'd be gagging just from the smell. :in pain:
I can't STAND beer...nasty stuff. But I do love beer bread, and beer batter, etc. Never tried it on the hair, though...don't think I need it.

Scary. Our daughter had a teacher, that fell out of his chair almost every day. I think he was high, or drunk. He kept his job for the entire year. So many people complained, including me. They fired him at the end of the year. Why did they wait so long? It was apparent, after the first month that something wasn't right about this guy. That was in Kansas, many years ago.
My voice teacher in college was an alcoholic. She'd get sober for a while and then fall off the wagon again. When I was just a freshman or sophomore, one girl had her senior recital and this teacher was so drunk that she could barely even walk much less accompany the girl on the piano. Fortunately the head of the department was a pianist and happened to be present, so he accompanied the girl for her recital, but that meant he was sight reading all the music. Not really a problem for a professional pianist, but I felt bad for the girl because with your own teacher/accompanist, you have things worked out between you that a different person wouldn't know...where you are breathing, or where you might take a little extra time on a run, for example, and it can get dicey with someone who doesn't know your style. Poor girl...must have been horrifying. Then when I was a senior, some of the guys in our studio mentioned smelling alcohol on the teacher's breath again. I was so scared it was going to be me! And the Head of the department had retired and the new one was an oboist, not a pianist. So there was no one to fill in for her should she be incapable of playing. It was all fine and I made it through, just a little nervous.

Hi Buddy! Thanks for stopping by. And wow -- talk about a marathon of plays!! I looked at the Cats photo, and man, that brought back memories. Think it was maybe 20 years ago when a friend and I saw it over at the Winter Garden Theater on Broadway. I was amazed at how the theater was so decked out inside, and I loved the play. (Note: One of my brothers saw Cats over in London years prior to that, and he, also, thought it was great. As luck would have it, he was sitting next to one of the cast members on his flight over to London, and she helped him secure a ticket to the show.)
I never saw Cats...sang Memory for solo and ensemble festival one year though! I wish I could come back to the States next year though...I think it's next year. My cousin is doing the casting for Frozen the Musical and I'd LOVE to see it. But there is no way.

Bag check is better after peak opening hours. Bad again for a park with EMHs again. The news today of adding more bag checks should help somewhat.
It also depends on who you get. We came back to one of the parks in the afternoon. I went straight for the shortest line...people are sheep...they all line up in the same lines, even if there's one further down that has no one in it. But in this case, it was the wrong move because I got the guy going slow as molasses. He checked one bag in the time all the others checked 4. But it was no use switching by the time I figured this out because all the other lines had gotten longer, so it would have been about the same. Some lady got behind me and I whispered that she may want to pick another line. She did, and was done 10 seconds after me, even though there were several people before her.

I so agree with that.

With my Dad my Sis and I saw different things and had very different opinions on treatment along with cause. Now we have so many different views about my Mom, her overall well being right down if she should still be in that house for the long haul. My Sis an attorney is very good at winning and when at an impasse she can go for the juggler yet she has a very soft side that she tries hard to hide but it is there. Me, I don't think she is ready to cope with aging issues with my Mom or parting with our childhood home, she unlike me doesn't remember living anywhere else. She lost it when my Mom years ago asked her if she wanted her bedroom set as she was turning her bedroom into a den/computer-TV room.
We moved just about every year. I don't get attached to houses. I'm itching to move, but it makes no economic sense at this time.

I love Silver Springs, with the ladies in the beautiful dresses, and the water skiing show.

My eyes cry with onion too. My kids have giggled when they have walked into the kitchen and saw me with their swim goggles on while chopping large volumes of onion. This week I pulled an @Songbird76 while chopping onion, right to the bone of my left index finger at the joint. My DD like hers was home and well trained in First Aid and seeing far worse at the WaterPark she put me back together again.
Sympathy like. Sounds awful. How's it doing now? Mine is still a bit tender on one side...I'm thinking it might never go away.
