Hmpf. I know I'm not suppose to question the teachings of my Nuns, just trust and obey but I've always been a rebel. It was the Catholic's that renamed the day as Christ's day centuries and centuries ago 'till then Christmas was actually Pagan Saturnalia festival. Always found that interesting. More curious that manger sets and Christmas decoration show snow around Christ. If the Shepherds were out tending to their sheep at night, it certainly wasn't winter. Or only in their dreams.
Yea, I remember the first time that I had to have a "come to Jesus" talk with a Priest was when I was in second grade. The nun* was teaching about the mystery of the holy trinity. You know Father, Son and Holy Spirit all rolled up in one. She kept emphasizing that it was impossible for us, as humans to understand. I said that I didn't see what was the big deal. You just taught us that God could do anything, so why is it a mystery if he wanted to do that. Seems basic. She didn't know how to respond and called in a Priest to "explain" it to me. He couldn't either so they just eventually changed the subject and went on to other things.
Yep, my Mom took me out of school on my 16th Birthday to get my license, my DS got his on his 16th. My DD wasn't ready, she pulled her license 16+ a month on NYE the day before the laws changed. She still didn't drive alone until 6 months later, she wasn't that sure of herself yet and she knew it. Shortly after she started to driving to dawn swimteam practice a stupid 16 year old blew a stop sign and T-Boned her, that was a scarey phone call. She was in my truck and the other kid was in a mini pick-up. My truck one. It did have a 4x4 dent by the front tire, she had a broken left foot. She thinks it slammed against the side of the car on impact. Being in flip flops not a lot to block the impact. I rode my bike to the accident and when the dude was ticketed and we were free to go I had her drive home just so she didn't have to fret about that. I did drive her to work later and to the ortho the next day as I didn't know about the foot 'till much later.
On the morning of my 16th Birthday I was standing at the door of the DMV waiting for it to open to take my driving test. I passed it and then came the twist. I drove to the test with my Mother on my Learners Permit. I took the written test and the road test and passed both easily. Then, at the time, they took away your Permit, however, the License came a few days later in the mail. So, I couldn't drive home. They drove in that point by being adamant about it. No Permit, No License, No Driving. It was the longest 4 days of my life. I don't know why no one had thought about a temporary license, but, they didn't. It bordered on cruel.

Thanks for the kind words. I have all the bathroom locations memorized in the parks. Well in Magic Kingdom for sure. It's always the first and last stop after/before all that bus riding. Old age doesn't help much. Definitely more trips to the "little girl's room".

I actually have a favorite stall at the bathroom in the restrooms that connect Adventureland and Frontierland. It is at the back, usually no one goes back there, and it is right under a vent that pumps out fantastic AC in the heat.

A while back before @betty rose visit we were going through the blog lists of the very best restrooms in all of WDW cause it isn't always a matter of where they are but the best of the best and the cleanest. Funny where our conversations lead us.

There are certainly bathrooms that are better than others. I have a few favorites and some I avoid unless absolutely necessary.

I can empathize. You and I do not do well in the heat. I actually get heat headaches if I'm out in it too long, especially if it's humid. My main relief is always an air conditioned place to escape. :)
Yep...I was getting headaches every day, and I KNEW it wasn't dehydration because I had a big water bottle that I was constantly drinking and refilling and drinking again. That extreme heat just wrecks me.

@StarWarsGirl you might be interested in this with your love of wine. I was reading on a Disney food blog about a wine walk at Epcot. It is $20 and you get six tastings of wine (white & red, and pre chosen) at France, Germany, and Italy. You can purchase it in the wine shops in any of those pavilions and they give you a slip that you use to redeem your wines at the other shops. It seemed kind of fun and a good way to sample wines. I guess the wine shop in Germany also sells a cheese platter that you can pair with the wine.

I'm sorry, you lost me at "14 year olds who drive".
It's possible. In Wyoming, there are a lot of ranchers and there are large distances between places...my dad lives 20 miles out of town, for example. Normally you can get a learners permit at 15, where you can only drive with a licensed driver in the seat next to you, etc. But, in certain circumstances, such as someone who lives out of town, they will issue you a "hardship" license so you can get to a job, for instance. If you have a sick parent who can't drive you, or whatever...and you can get that license at 14. Also, on private land, you can drive without a license. They can't ticket you there because it's not a state funded road. I remember steering while the truck was in low gear or something when I was about 4, dad in the back throwing out hay for the cattle. He couldn't drive and throw the bales out at the same time and we were too little to throw the hay, so we just steered the truck for him. And later, we practiced driving out on the ranch roads...you get good at dodging potholes.

This is a chit chat thread so I am going to chit chat. My Summer although great has just flown by. School starts back up for us teachers on September 1st which seems just around the corner. That is a double whammy for my household as both I and my girlfriend are both teachers. OK, I guess that was more of a rant than just chit chat.
Welcome to chit chat. Sorry it flew by so fast! How long of a vacation do you get? Our kids go back Monday...they get 6 weeks and we spent almost 5 on our vacation, so we're trying to get a hold on the jet lag before they go back!

Oh My! Little vultures.

Did Disney replace his Fish for him?
No, we didn't ask. He had already eaten all but one piece and he was full, so he wasn't going to eat it anyway. But boy was he MAD that the bird had the audacity to take HIS food. He starts shouting "Hey!!! That's MY food, not yours!!" Everyone in the general vicinity was looking...I don't think anyone missed the fact that a bird stole his fish! He was LOUD.

I really hate the smell of beer, and the taste is even worse. I'd rather pass on a drink than have a beer. The exception being summer shandys or other drinks that, while technically beer, don't smell or taste like beer. At home, if it's not wine, I go for the Mike's Hard Malt liquors.

To each her own, I guess. :)
I definitely prefer Wine over beer, but if that is all that is there I will drink one or two. I also really like the hard ciders.

This is the first year that we are starting this late. This will be my 6th year teaching in this district and at this school and we usually start 2 weeks earlier and get out 2 weeks sooner. September 1st is also only when the teachers report. The students first day isn't until September 8th.

OK, I just had a very similar situation with my Mom and her foot doctor, she didn't like the guy Doc in the practice at all but really was impressed with the lady Doc. Her practice had a non compete clause so they cannot notify clients where they are heading to. This is not uncommon in many professions not limited to medical by any means.

What I did for about a month was continue to google search the doctors full name with the state included in the search on google. About a month later I found her, Bingo. Her new practice made an announcement of their new partner. Like many of us Docs at times take a vacation before starting up with their new practice. You are likely to find the Doc again if you just search once a day and Ferret the Doc out.
Thanks for the information. I don't know why I didn't think about the non compete clause. Hubby had that when he left the firm he worked for. I'm over it now. It's on to search for the right Dr. I keep reminding myself, that the Dr. works for me, not the other way around.
