My husband and I decided against putting a huge fish tank in our living room. Instead we are looking at birds tomorrow, at the pet store where my grandson works. They got in some blue parakeets, and my grandson isn't sure if the yellow birds were canaries, or yellow parakeets. He was too busy today putting up stock to pay much attention to the birds. I'm not really a pet person, but I thought a few birds would be nice. My husband is a wonderful pet owner, but he is leaving up the choice of birds to me.

Birds are nice. I remember that my sister used to have parakeets. The only down side was cleaning out the bottom of the cage each day, but it was a pull out bottom so it wasn't really too bad.

She had this parakeet, Polly, for 2 years and then bought another parakeet, Freddie, to keep Polly company. The next morning she came down to the cage, and poor Polly had passed on to parakeet heaven. We're not sure what happened in the cage the night before . . . o_O

On a whole aside from the upscale breakfasts I'm not a fan of Disney Breakfasts. Tony's was originally a breakfast venue as Town Square Cafe that served all three meals of the day. I'm super under impressed with Tony's. I was young but equally unimpressed with the breakfast with their breakfast way back. Disney just can't seem to turn out a standard breakfast without shortcuts that lessen the end results.

I'd rather eat a bagel and move on. Even their bagels are meh but it fills the tummy at a reasonable price. The one place that once made a traditional made to order breakfast was Bonfamille TS at the French Quarter. That ended with 9/11 when they shuttered the entire resort for a while until attendance picked up.
And I still hear about the sweet potato pancakes they used to serve at Boatwright's. They really could make a killing on breakfast with Tiania theme in that place. Wake up in Tiana's Royal Room, have breakfast at Tiana's place. :inlove:

Now that they are using the Bonfamille space again while the Sassagoula refurb is taking place, maybe they will open it up again. Makes sense if they are going to start opening the DVC at moderates can of worms, too.

Parakeet or Canary? My grandson thinks that some of the birds at his store might be canaries. Different birds. Different conditions. I am excited to go looking later on this afternoon. He said the other workers at his store said they were all parakeets, just different colors. They are all very young birds, and they just came in yesterday.

We are starting from scratch, so I am not sure what types of cages the store has in stock. Although, I don't want the cage availability to determine my choice for which bird/birds we choose. We can't mix them up. My grandson called yesterday to let me know that they had blue parakeets. When he began working there, I had admired a blue parakeet they had there at the time, and jokingly told my husband to buy him for me. This was long before we did a bit of house cleaning, and rearranging, making room for a new pet. it was going to be fish, but looks like it's now going to be birds. My grandson has a really great cockateil that just loves him. He sits on his shoulder, and just adores him. He is a one man bird. Although, he loves to listen to me chatter to him when I visit my grandson upstairs.

Don't forget to take into account the lifespan as they are quite different between parakeets and canaries.
