A little background material on me.

My name is Barbara Ann, hence the BA in my username. I tried getting Barbaraann, but it was taken. I wonder if that could have been me years ago, when I first discovered Disney websites, and I just forgot my log in info.

I married to the same man for 50 years. I have two boys, and a 23 year old grandson.

I have been to Disney World about 10 times, and Disneyland about 10 times. All of my trips have averaged about a week. Some shorter, and a few glorious ones longer. I prefer the longer ones, of course. I prefer Disneyland over WDW by the way, although always have fun no matter what. My motto is "If you don't have fun on your vacation, than it's your own fault".

I have lived in Chicago my whole lot, and don't plan on ever living anywhere else. I come from a family of 6, but it's just me and my sister now, Mom, Dad, and my 2 brothers are all deceased now. I root for all Chicago teams, but prefer the Cubs over the White Sox.

Now you know me a little better. Basically, I am a shy person, but I speak up when I feel it matters to be heard.

I love this thread, and this site gives me a different perspective on things for sure. I have posted the past 11 years mostly on one other site, but needed a change. I'm loving the change.
Well, we are very happy to have you. Can always use another Cubs fan!

I have gotten pretty good at telling a good ear of corn without peeling the husk back. Best way to grill them.:D

Proud of you. :)

I don't put corn on grill or leave in husk while cooking. It is just me but I don't like peeling of the husk and silk while they are that hot, I am a whimp. I just blanch the corn, heavily roll it through a stick of butter and sometimes a tiny bit of garlic salt. Then I am in heaven. :hungry:

Try R&B Miller Farms. All fruit farm from Coloma, MI. And it looks like I need to find the time to stop by the Farmer's Market tomorrow. Peaches!

Edit- Got so excited about the first part, forgot to answer the rest. I usually try and do TJ's once a month, and haven't made it there yet, so I can't tell you, but I think I need to stop by next week. I stopped my membership to Sam's a long time ago. I used to love it, until I moved here. Super funky, and very hard to get a parking spot.

Yum.

Both our closest Costco and Sam's are very nice, new an huge. Sam's have less issues with parking than Costco. I have business membership so I get in a couple hours before general membership. If I don't need produce or meat I can order online and they will pick it for me and I'll I have to do is pay and put in my car. Fan.

I ran across a system for cooking corn in the husk in the microwave. You can remove, with kitchen sheers, most of the silk that hangs loose. Cut the bottoms off the ears just above the part where it goes back inward and nuke it for just a few minutes. When it is done you use oven mitts, hold the corn over a plate and shake it and it falls right out of the bottom of the husk, no silk at all, it comes out slick and clean. I love it.. throw the husk and silk in the compost or garbage when they cool.

I will try that. If it doesn't stick and that easy I'm all in especially when it is hot out.

I shuck the corn over an open piece of newspaper. Roll it up and take it out to the bin. Done.

Here is the general idea, you can cut the bottom off before you nuke it, but, I like this idea since I'm sure that it is easier to cut it off after it has been cooked. Either way.

I believe I got this from someplace on Facebook quite a while ago.

MICROWAVE CORN ON COBB

How to Cook Corn Perfectly

Don't ya'll hate peeling the husks off and all those silky strings? Well, no more!

Instructions:

1. Remove a few of the outer husks that might be dirty.

2. Cut the bottoms off of the corn. Be sure to cut above the part of the cob where the husk is attached. It would be above the part of the cob where it starts to round down.

3. Place a moist paper towel on the bottom of the microwave or on top of the carousel and place the corn on the paper towel.

4. Use this guide for your cook time. Remember the cooking time can vary for each microwave.

1 ear - 2 minutes
2 ears - 3 to 4 minutes
3 ears - 5 to 6 minutes
4 ears - 7 to 8 minutes
6 ears - 8 to 9 minutes

5. After cooking, let the corn sit about 3 minutes. It will continue to cook and will be cooler and easier to handle.

6. Pick the cooked corn up by the top (you might want to use an oven mitt if it is too hot to handle) and squeeze and lightly shake out the ear of corn. It should just slide out leaving the silk and all of the husks intact.

I've planned and packed everything except.......... I have no clue what to do with my nails tomorrow. I'm getting them done with a pink gel polish but I still haven't settled on a design. I want a Disney design of some type but the party pooper better known as my dh says that may be just a bit over the top. Is there such a thing? he said they might be just a bit out of place at UNI. :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

Hahahahaha. Out of all the planning the thing he is now concerned with is your fingernail design? Giggle. IMG_0225.JPG

I can't find the last one but this was 2 trips ago.

And yet I have not found a baseball team or a park I love more than my Cubbies or Wrigley.

I never follow the team sports like baseball, football or hockey. But I do recall years ago that my cousins from Brooklyn, NY, were die-hard Mets fans. They never won either, but it was "their" team. (I haven't a clue how the team is doing nowadays, but I always recall my father kidding my cousins about their "losing" team. ;) )
