The last time we went to 'Ohana the wings weren't very good. The sauce on them was fine but the skin on the wings was flabby not crispy. In general our meal at 'Ohana wasn't very good so we haven't been back, and it had been a must do for us. Last week when hubby and I did our monorail lounge tour we stopped in at the Tambu Lounge at the Polynesian and ordered the 'Ohana wings off the menu. The wings were a little more crispy but underseasoned, and the sauce is the best part. It didn't make us think that 'Ohana has improved that much. We wished we had ordered more food at Trader Sam's, but we finished at the Tambu and hopped on the monorail to Mizner's Lounge at the GF and had some great stuff there. And Gabe the wings are bone-in, I don't think they have a boneless option.

As I replied last night to Gabe's post, we haven't been there in over 3 years. We have eaten there twice previous to that, and, other than the chicken being a bit dry on our second visit, we have always really enjoyed it.
Sounds like things have gone downhill since our last visit.
When was the last time y'all ate at 'Ohana?

I agree, long nails and piano don't go together. I once had a piano with long nails. I hated all the clicking on the key board. Like nails, on a chalk board to me.:in pain:

 ;)

The last time we ate at 'Ohana was in 2014, and then just did the wings at the lounge in June. We had eaten there almost every trip since our honeymoon and had two iffy meals back to back. There are just so many places to try at WDW, but I'm sure it will get rotated back in someday.

I'm glad it mostly went well. Hope the nephew is ok! I hope your grandma is ok too!
Nephew is in a cast. Thankfully, it was a clean break, so they didn't have to set it or anything. They're hoping that he'll be in there until August and then be out.

As for my grandma, I'm not sure how she's doing. I know for myself, I thought I was good. After all, he was 99, he had not been doing great for about a year now, he was active physically until about age 97, mentally until the end, and he gave my grandma 25 happy years. I thought I was doing okay. Then I got to work yesterday and just wanted to cry all day, and nothing to do with work. So I wasn't doing as well as I thought. I'm wondering if the same is going on with her, that as long as she's busy, she's okay, but at some point, it will hit her hard. I've been texting her every day, though. I was going to call her today on my way home from work, but thanks to my phone (whole 'nother story; the microphone that the speakerphone uses is not working), I'll have to call her tomorrow.

I was the same way when my last grandparent went, I thought I was ready, handled the service and everything quite well. Then about a week later I totally lost it. Way out of the blue. Just wanted to know you're as normal as I am. Oh wait maybe that's not a good thing:confused: we're here for you if you need a shoulder or just need to vent. Be well xoxo

That does sounds like a lot of drama. We all are assigned a duty, like lunchroom, bus, morning hallway supervision, it is just the way it is. We are a small rural district so it is always all hands on deck. I like going on field trips with the kids, I don't balk at that at all. I do get annoyed that one colleague never goes on trips though. I wouldn't want to go on overnight trips as I don't like sharing rooms with people I'm not close to. And I don't feel comfortable sharing a room with kids.

Some people have told me to plan a Disney science field trip. No thanks! Disney is my escape from work!

Our High School is very different. Each staff member has 2 extra duties, seniority picks first. But one has a wide array of choices and the second extra duty is either lunchroom or limbo. Many days it is a free period for professional staff in an empty classroom. They must be in that classroom so they can be found. If a colleague has an emergency, sick, sick kid-you name it and must leave unexpectedly Limbo fills in that classroom period. We have a large co-op high school so this happens frequently so there are many limbo professionals each period. The district uses subs if they are called out for the day but this has worked well rather than scrambling to get a sub into the school on short notice. My DDs math teacher for 2 years chose lunchroom. You could find her at her table always grading math exams.

The stupidity with classroom instruction only started decades ago. A district that once had more funds that it honestly knew what to do with. Odd for a teeny tiny elementary school district and a town with very few residents. Far from the residents is a huge industrial area that generates a great deal of property tax. Add in new housing developments that each year covered any Capital Improvements through impact funds. Many previous boards to ours found ways to share the wealth with the staff and they were given stipends (bonus) monies to legally pass on the excess funds-for their extra duties. Well times have changed, there is not new housing developments and we all know what happened to property values resulting in less funding revenue. Staff has refused in contracts to move away from the stipends even though they are already on the clock, me once new to this concept kinda looked at it as double dipping, being paid twice for same time frame. So that is how we got to where we are. So now we have either parents doing lunchroom +one professional staff and support staff assigned bus and door/crossing guard duties. Professional staff required to stay in their classroom before the beginning of the day and after for the 30 minutes. This came to a head when support staff complained socializing in teachers lounge wasn't classroom time while they were required to go outdoors and deal with students. This kinda stuff just makes me bang my head into a wall, so not why I got myself involved with the schools. Only thing worse is having to listen to a presentation on replacement Xerox machines.
