I use black no matter what I'm sewing. Saves a lot of time. I won't be included in any fashion magazines unless it's under the heading: What not to do! I'm just happy I know how to sew at all. Thank you United States Air Force.

Oh gosh, I just burst out laughing--partly from what you said above, but also something my father did years ago. He couldn't sew. (My mother could sew.) Anyway, he used to carry change, cigarette lighters, and whatever else in his pockets, in the suits he wore to work.

Eventually, with all that stuff inside, the pockets would begin to fray or rip. Since he couldn't sew, he'd take his desk stapler and staple up the holes! HA! :p It drove my mother crazy. :hilarious: She said that all his pants (including his weekend jeans) had all these dumb staples in all the pockets, when she could have easily mended them properly for him. But, he was rather proud of his mending "invention" I think . . . ;) Oh, he was never in the Air Force like you were; he was a Lt. Commander in the Navy (think he served for at least 4 years--it was before I was born), and I guess the Navy didn't teach them how to sew!. :D

Many others will also work for food. (It's a talent that not all job-seekers have.)

To be honest, they didn't teach me, however, I had to teach myself or wander around with pieces parts showing.

There is a valuable lesson in that for those that are just starting out in a career. Just because a persons Mother thinks they are priceless, doesn't mean the rest of the world holds the same sentiment.

My mom still calls to let me know she sent a text:confused: She still can't program her VCR either:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Hahaaa...!
My folks have a pay-as-you-go cell phone that is on all the time when they are away from their landline at home. They don't text.
My pop is very proficient when it comes to PCs, as he worked for IBM for 27 years, but his career was in regards to mainframe computers.
He still has to get assistance from my IT (at the state Capitol) youngest bro every now and then. :)

From @ajrwdwgirl 's quote below --
It was nine of us but the group was really quiet so it was really just me and one other lady asking questions and talking to the imagineer. It was funny because I get shy in new social situations ( I was excited about this and had my stomach in knots with anxiety for a couple days leading up to this) and when I booked this hubby said I had to ask at least one question because he knows I get shy. So when I told him I was the talkative one he laughed. I am planning on doing a trip report so I will give more details then. By the way while I did this hubby was golfing.

My response to the above (for some reason I had difficulty quoting from her post) --

Yea! Good for you for asking questions!! I'd have a bunch to ask, too, and I don't think I'd be shy either. It's a small enough group and everyone is there for the same reason. So I think I'd also feel comfortable to engage in conversation. I'm just thrilled for you that you got to experience this! I'm so jealous!! :cat:[/QUOTE]

Yes, that post got messed up. Answering to the above...

Yep, I'm very comfortable in situations like that.
I woulda' been askin' questions out the wazoo...!
:)

And, before anyone comments, that's a figure of speech...my wazoo isn't that talented...! ;)

He doesnt get the concept? or he just thinks having the cellphone on is a nuisance/waste?

I don't know about her Dad but with my Mom it goes back to the old analog phones. First she really didn't want one but then pay phones all but disappeared. She bought a cheap (likely free) pay as you go phone. Back then phones roamed and wore those batteries down quickly unless you shut them off in roaming areas. My issue is with my Mom is she can't get past the issues of yesteryear and our phones don't roam anymore plus the batteries as little as she uses it could last a week easily. The way she operates her phone it is strickly an outgoing device. Yet if she gets a busy signal on my landline she calls my cell. YOUR PHONE IS BUSY SO I'M CALLING YOU ON YOUR CELL.

I have only had cell/battery issues in one place. We have all had the same issue at WDW in the parks and sometimes at the resorts when at times we keep getting dump'd off wifi and it connects disconnects reconnects, dumps ya-it really tanks my battery life of my iPhone. Usually I just flip it over to data.

Yep, about fifteen minute drive from me. There was Sea World and right next to it was Geauga Lake amusement park. They were bought by and converted to a Six Flags around 2000 which ran it into the ground. When we were in high school almost everyone worked at Sea World or Geauga Lake. My sister worked as a caricature artist at SW. I didn't work there though. My best friends and I were working concessions at Municipal Stadium during Indians games.

Here's a map of what the park looked like. We went every year on field trips there.

Looks like it was a very nice park and a nice location.
