I was just starting to feel happy again. The Orioles won, we're going to Disneyland...and then I come home and read that.

It's so, so sad. He was so young and would have had such a career ahead of him. It sounds like the gate wasn't opening, he went to check why, and the car rolled forward and hit him. :(:(

Wonder if they'll get a different actor for Checkov or what they'll do with the character. I'm sure Star Trek Beyond will be dedicated to him, as well as Leonard Nimoy. The original Checkov actor is actually still alive.
I know.. I was like "thanks god this awful week is ove... and then suddenly found that article in the news everywhere"

I made that post before it was known that it was going to be rope or something loose. If it were a solid barrier then it was a bigger problem, to me, then leaving it out completely and just doing the signs. It was worded in some of the posts that it was to prevent the gators from getting up on the beach, which would have meant a solid barrier unless they put in a one way gator "door" in the fence.

I just saw pics of them putting up the fence on another thread. As I suspected, not the most hideous thing in the world, but the beach just looks weird fenced off like that. But, I'm sure they just feel they really have no choice at this point, until, maybe hopefully, they can find a better, more aesthetically pleasing, solution in the future, or not have them again at all.

I can't say I wasn't excited to leave either. What 20-something young adult isn't? I have nothing but fond memories of growing up in my hometown but it was certainly out of my price range when I left home back then. But it is a charming town and the commercial area has changed little since I was small, the buildings are still there from the '20s - 40's, the theater is intact from the 20's. The businesses have changed over the years however the area is very much the same in the Uptown area (downtown was considered loop of Chicago.)

Over the years I normally zip through the fastest way to my folks home and out again. This week being there soooo much that I wish I could just put the car on autopilot I've had some time to look around. I think I've now finished all I have to do for my Dad's services this upcoming weekend and my Sis and family should have all arrived by Friday so thinking life MIGHT get back to somewhat normal after that.
Please try and find some calgon and wine time for yourself you both deserve and need it. Be well my friend xoxo

With our summer schedules being a bit crazy that's another one that may have to wait for Blu Ray for us:(
I've waited 13 years for another Finding Nemo movie. I was NOT going to miss it. Even though my week will be nuts with leaving for DL on Thursday while still going to work tomorrow and Wednesday.

It looks like Star Trek is also coming out a few weeks before WDW, so I' see that one too. The question is whether I take my brother or my best friend...or both.
