Maybe not tech FL left side of the castle I always seem to get hit with smoke on that side:hungover: not even sure it's an official place
It was, but, I don't believe it still is. It was a heavy traffic area which I'm sure generated many complaints. I had heard that there was one near the fountain by the castle, but, I cannot confirm that since I have never actually seen it.

You'll be happy to know that one is a goner, has been for several years. It was a stupid place for one. And you are right, most are really tucked away now where most have to go into a specific area to join the smokers. It is my understanding that is one of the reasons why the dole whip area was moved from its tiny venue to a bigger one.
We must be having some location confusion. I am talking about the path that leads from the left hand side of the hub to the middle of Fantasyland along side of the castle. That one was still there about a year ago, but, I believe isn't there anymore.

:) I have no idea what you just said to me.
Let me try to explain more simply.

More equipment on board = more weight.
More weight = more gas usage
more gas usage = need more fuel, and thus uses more fuel to carry the weight of the additional fuel.

Did you know that airliners always have to find a "balance" when painting their planes?
Paint can weight a few hundread kilograms in a large plane (Iv'e seen the number of 500Kg or half ton in a 747-200 around the web).
That also "costs" to the airline in fuel. but int he other hand.. Paint protects the fuselage from corrosion and "bounces" light that can radiate in the plane (and thus increase AC costs).
Thats why some airlines either go for white paint, or metal brushing finish (like American Airlines and AeroMexico).

DD came home today saying they are having a picnic next Thursday in their class and they all need to bring food, no pork products because of the Muslim kids (which means no jello, since apparently gelatin is made from pork :( Here I thought we were being all clever making something American that they don't have here) Anyone have any kid-friendly allergy-free and pork free food ideas?
Thats kinda weird.. Gelatin can come from anything that has cartilage, skins and bones. But to save costs.. companies use the "left overs". So yeah, pork skin, horns, cattle bones..etc..

I still wonder how expensive is to use the alternates like "Vegan Jel".

Amen! I know somebody who got hit with smoke there a few months ago, :hungover::hungover::hungover: Guess they didn't get the message:mad:

I've actually seen that, guests going to designated areas that are no longer designated. Over the last 5 years ago Disney has made a good effort in sticking the smoking sections for the most part in out of the way areas where in most cases you have to directed head to join the smokers. I think this new direction of Disney at both the Parks and Resorts is so much better than years ago. I also find this with the perfume they sell that sets me off big time along with my DD. I know where it is, I steer clear. Norway was a little more of a challenge, France easy but I know where all the perfume venues are and I stay away. Problem solved. In lines when I find someone drenched in the stuff I let a few people go ahead of me.

Yes I did. I get the weight thing. But does the equipment come close to the weight of a 50 pound suitcase per person checked?

I just pulled up a map. I do not see any smoking sections for fantasyland or the hub.

So jealous.

All of our Schlotzsky's closed up here about 10 years ago. Poof Gone. Kinda like Applebee's are gone in our area too.
They had so many quality ingredients right down to the bread. Miss Schlotzsky's. :(

Yep, they peaked at 759 stores and now have only 350, but, seem to be making a bit of a comeback. They were founded here in Austin in '71. Still an awesome, quality sandwich...! :hungry:

We still have plenty of Applebee's around here, too. We've never had a bad meal there. My favorite is their Shrimp 'N Parmesan Sirloin...! :hungry:

Sympathy like. Are you still safe?

Yep, thanks, we're good! :)
My 4 mile stretch of country back road was closed again this morning, but, open on my way home this afternoon. But, there are also huge chunks of asphalt on a few of the low water crossings that have been washed away and have been hastily patched. They'll hafta' be properly repaired in the near future.
And, Lake Travis is still more than 11.5 feet above what's considered full.

My mom was a smoker and she refused to visit friends who wouldn't let her smoke in their homes. In her view, she was a smoker and if they were her friends, they should accept her as she is. I told her, you should accept them as they are....and that means accepting that they DON'T smoke. She got angry once when we went out to dinner with my then-boyfriend's parents and they requested a non-smoking table. Mom was the only one in our group who smoked, my boyfriend had asthma and couldn't handle the smoke, but she didn't understand why she had to go outside to have a cigarette! Drove me nuts.It was beyond rude and inconsiderate. In my lease, it stated that if anyone was caught smoking in the apartment, we were subject to a $75 fine for a first offence, eviction afterwards. I told her she couldn't smoke in the apartment and why...she didn't care. SHE was my mother and therefore SHE got to set the rules...in MY home. I told her if she got caught, she got to pay the fine and I'd better not get evicted. I am so glad that smoking is against the law in public places here! My mom's long gone, but there are a LOT of smokers here and it's much easier to avoid breathing it in if it's not allowed!

My pop smoked for 12 years, but, quit when he found out mom was expecting me (the first of 4 kiddos), and never smoked again. Mom has never smoked. I used to smoke recreationally, but, can't remember the last time I had a cigarette. DWifey has never smoked, and completely and absolutely detests it. My DWifeys pop smoked about 3 packs a day, and her mom about half that on and off for years. Her pop has been gone for over a decade, and her mom stopped all smoking years ago when she was diagnosed with COPD.
It's actually funny, because although my parents never smoked, all our other friends parents did, so we were quite used to it. I never really gave it a second thought. Now, if I even get a small wiff, I'm like... o_O

in other news, my grandmah moved to our house. She's getting old and she is now having lapses of memory. Mother agrees she cant be trusted anymore to live alone, even with a helper that is most of the time with her (she has left the stove on at night and other bad things).
She's 96.
I dont think she has much time left considering how fast she seems to be degrading.
She now repeats the same stories over and over.

Sympathy like. Hope y'all can make her last years as comfortable as possible. Such an admirable thing y'all are doing.

Made a major discovery tonight (drum roll . . .) I have 18 cans of Bumble Bee solid white tuna. Although I like tuna sandwiches, I haven't had one in a few months. o_O

Now, sometimes when I see a sale on something (like tuna . . . ;) ), as in, 5 cans for $5, I'll pick up 5 cans and put them in a cabinet. Then, I forget . . . , and see another sale someplace else, so I buy more. Anyway, tonight I was rummaging through a tightly packed cabinet, and I counted 18 cans of tuna in there! :hilarious: :hilarious:

P.S.: Never did find what I was initially looking for in the kitchen cabinet--the tuna cans were in the way!! :p
