Speaking of which, are you doing any better than I am with your new computer? My mentor, DD isn't familiar with
8 and she was trying to figure out something for me. I use to her getting stuff first and me lagging behind in the tech world.

Speakin' of which, this new-ish laptop we've had for months now is runnin' 8. took some serious gettin' used to at first, but, now I've pretty much got it wired. :)

I have the 5 AM news on in the background, and the weatherman just said that Dallas is 33 this morning! I figure your city is probably close enough that your temperature must be in about the same range. We're down to about 15 outside this morning. Nice and cool. :p

Actually, Dallas is quite a bit north of us and can get much cooler.
It was 37 here overnight. Didn't get much over 40 all day. 39 right now, with a predicted low of 33. :)

BTW...
Congrats on the 15 degrees...! :D ;) :)

One of my kids friends arrived in Austin yesterday night. Wasn't there 45 minutes and she was riding a mechanical bull. Said Texas is as cold as Illinois. Found it odd they cancelled fireworks 'cause of cold weather.

Hahaaa...!!! :joyfull:
I don't know exactly which fireworks she's talkin' 'bout, but, they've been blastin' 'em for the last 3 hours 'round here...! ;) :)

"First things first: Yes, we're babies when it comes to cold weather. Sit us in direct sun when it's 95 degrees outside? We can handle it. Tell us it may rain? We're canceling our brunch plans and staying home. But telling us there is a potential for rain and cold temperatures? We're postponing everything — including New Year's Eve.

On Tuesday, the City of Austin announced that it would be postponing the New Year's Eve celebration and fireworks slated to take place at Butler Park. Many of us, especially northern transplants, had a laugh, maybe posted a sassy status update on social media and moved on. But then everyone else started to chime in with the jokes, and frankly, we're not having any of it. (It's akin to when someone makes fun of your sibling and you're suddenly outraged. I can make fun of my brother, but you cannot.)"

Funny thing is, probably around 2/3 of the folks that now live in Austin proper are those that came from colder climes to escape them. Us native Texans actually don't cancel such things for anything so trivial. ;) :)

This new laptop is a touch screen. Can you feel me reaching though and pinching you real hard?

I've been using 8 for two years now. My old laptop did not have a touchscreen. This one does. Worlds easier. I basically set my old one up to work like Windows 7.

If you don't like the start screen, you can download a replacement like the old Windows 7 start menu. I like start menu 8.

I have it on my laptop and my brother's so that if my dad needs to use one of the laptops, he can find everything. You can customize it to make it work the way you want it to work. To get to the windows 8 start screen, you either hit start -> switch to metro or swipe in from the right side and hit start.

It is something that you have to use continuously to get used to. I'm not surprised it's confusing your daughter as it confused me at first.

Yep it is a problem. That is the Iconic Morton Salt building. The wall took out some of the structure of the roof too. Most of the cars damaged are cars in for service in the lot of the Acura dealership. They have loaner cars until the autos can be replaced in about 2 weeks. The salt can't be removed from the Acura dealership until they figure out the structural issues with Morton's. It is going to be a while. Snow will only complicate the problems for both.

the structural problems seems to be very easy to understand in my opinion.. THE MORTON's SALT STORAGE BUILDING HAS WAY TOO MUCH SALT INSIDE.
