I watch that every year. It is beautifully done, and I love the tributes. They really make you think of what many went through.

Really enjoyed the Beach Boys--that was fun!
I've been very lucky to have seen them several times, always great. But my favorite was the year they got kicked out DC (4th of July). They wound up playing Atlantic City for free:joyfull::joyfull::joyfull: Close enough for me to get on the parkway last minute and go see them. Great memories:joyfull:

Good morning it's a bit cool and damp so I'm heading to the craft store and then the grocery store (How is it I'm running out of a few things already:cautious::rolleyes::arghh::bawling::banghead:) It's supposed to be nice enough for the pool later so guess where I'll be?

It's absolutely pouring rain outside . . . :( Hubby put air in my bike tires and I was all set to ride it this morning. but that's not going to happen.

Absolutely not! I get them at my farm market. The ones I get seem to be a bit sweeter than the white ones and red members of the onion family are higher in magnesium so I always get them when I can.

Once again, it's amazing what I learn on these forums!! :jawdrop: I wish we had red scallions around here--I'd like to try them, as I love the green scallions. I'll have to check out some of the other grocery stores in my area, and ask the produce guys if they carry chives and red scallions. (I'm feeling deprived in my neck of the woods . . . :cautious: )

Bit at Disney?

I have read that, yes, people have been bitten by snakes at Disney (although it is rare). Haven't read much about it recently, but yes, it has happened. I recall that a kid was one of the people bitten. It was outside on hotel property.

People forget that this is Florida and they have a plethora of critters down there. I've also read that they fish out (with a net on a long pole, or other similar types of devices) snakes on occasion, from the lazy river areas of the water parks (in the morning, before the water parks open). I haven't a clue how often that happens, but I've read a few references about that over the years. :)

Bit at Disney?

In the post they said it happened at the Caribbean Beach. The kid dropped his toy, reached down to pick it up(feet never leaving the sidewalk) and it bit him. The kid spent three days in the Celebration hospital. The pictures of his hand and arm were amazing, they were so swollen. The mom said he'd been a real trooper about it and they weren't mad. They just wanted to remind people to watch out. It was a nice post because she didn't blame Disney at all.

I was in the lazy river once at Typhoon Lagoon and a kid picked a snake up out of the water and threw it over to the side. It wasn't a dangerous snake, at least that is what he told his mom. It creeped me out a little.

Then, we ended up in a sunglasses shop called Solstice, where DWifey surprised me with an early Fathers Day present of a pair of my favorite sunglasses of all time that I haven't owned in 30+ years...think Risky Blues Brothers Business...!!!!!!! :joyfull:

Nice! :inlove: What a great gift. A little bit of luxury.

I had a pair for a long time when I was young, I wore them a lot when I was skiing. Once there was a house, kids etc I couldn't bring myself to buy them again. Last year my Sis mailed me a pair for my Birthday, I quickly remembered how clear everything popped through them.

Last fall I went over the handlebars of my DD bike I was riding and did a splat face down into the grass. After the dazed me pulled it together the first thing I did was look for my Ray Bans to see if they were OK cause they flew off. They were. *phew*. Then I noted this nickel size deep puncture hole in my shin followed by I had knocked the chain off the bike. But all was well because the sunglasses were OK.

They had to know how dark it was. When I did AK after dark it was almost a decade ago. How do you not know that. Even last year when DD and I hit AK at close it was dusk and not nearly light enough. They are doing this full day park on a shoestring budget it appears.
That would be assuming that the people that worked on and dealt with the current AK incarnation were even part of the company ten years ago. Also, if any of those people had ever really set foot in the park after dark. I think that it was designed to be on the dark side. Very few places with animals in the wild have a massive number of street lights.

COST CUTS!!
But being serious. They could have just used these "string" lights (those that are used to light palm trees) on the floors. Not need to make big changes!

Back a few years ago we closed that park (we didn't get there 'till 2 hours before closing) and I was so impressed with some of AK unique lighting, great imagineering that you normally don't notice cause it is light out. Still I believe it was meant more to help guide guests out at dusk or when a very dark thunderstorm rolls in over lighting the park for nightime use.

My guess is Joe Rohde knows the lighting of his park and he still has boots on the ground frequently. He has had a hand in the planning of Avatar and Rivers so it is not like he is out of the loop.
