I still can't remember a movie from my childhood that ever gave me nightmares.
The Wizard of Oz is one of my all-time favorites and never did either. Flying monkeys, and all.
Maybe it has something to do with the fact that, no matter what happened during the course of those movies, there was always a happy ending...? :cyclops: :)

The Birds did it for me.

Yep, my commute to and from the office today was a breeze. The more I think about it, I shoulda' just taken the whole 2 weeks off, like in years past. I had more than enough available vacation days. We'll probably leave early New Year's Eve, as per usual, and then I'm not back at the office 'til Monday.

The last part of my commute back home through the neighborhoods is so enjoyable this time of year. Since we don't normally leave the office 'til 6p, it's plenty dark and the lights are gorgeous. I'll sometimes meander down the side streets for a bit to get my fill. :)

That is the part of Walt's night stroll that I like. Cold not so much. We don't have many street lights down our roads, the power company has them on the main roads so the occasional house light is it. At Christmas time it is so much brighter.

That movie has given children lasting nightmares for generations.
For me it was the Wicked Witch and her counterpart

Many people are on vacation this week (I assume because it's also school vacation week for many children). This made commuting a dream today. Coming home tonight on the express bus, the highway portion only took 14 minutes, versus 45 on a regular weekday.

One thing I enjoy when I take the bus, is the ride through the suburban streets at night and seeing all the Christmas lights up on the houses. I particularly enjoy the houses with hideous light displays that look like a drunken person strung them up! :p I'll never understand how some of these people could think that their house looks gorgeous, with about 8 different kinds of lights thrown haphazardly from the roof to the ground, with no design pattern at all.
speaking of vacations.. the interesting part of living in a touristic town is.. everyone comes to visit US on vacations.
aka me and my family. (it helps that a lot of our family members live here too )

I never put the t.v. on in the morning, but an alert on my FB page sent me straight to CNN.
Preliminary reports suggest they have discovered debris from Air Asia Flight 8501, and up to 40 bodies so far.

What does one say in such a situation? Very sad. Prayers for all the families.

I love the lights, too. Mixed in with some of the hideous light displays, are some really gorgeous ones. By gorgeous, those ones run the gamut from big, professionally done displays, to very small, but tasteful, light displays. I love them all. In the back of my mind, I always have this "contest" for the best decorated house in the area! (Fame to the winner? None. o_O Prize to the winner? None. o_O But, it's my own little "game" I play every year! :))

Ha! I had the same reaction. I absolutely loved the Wizard of Oz from childhood to adulthood. I can't even recall how many times I've seen that movie through the years. :joyfull:

Our town has a contest, 1st, 2nd, 3rd place for best decorated house a week before Christmas. It is done by members of our community council the same residents that hold secret the families in need that need some assistance during the holidays. My friend sat on the council and the people she rode with in the large community extended van were mainly men.

She got a chuckle out of the criteria they picked. All winners had over the top amount of lights and the tackier the better in their eyes. Beauty in the eye of the council seemed to be Tim, the tool man Taylor version of Beauty.
