I don't mind SW's voice or personality. The story is a good one, too. The movie is very good. But her dress and hair... ewww. I don't think it has anything to do with her age. The other princesses are not much older, but their dresses are less... carnival like.
She sure allowed for other princesses to follow, but IMHO, from a simple physical viewpoint she is mainly a sketch for the ones who came next.

A pioneer perhaps?

Oh, I am so with you! Thank you for saying it before me! I thought Snow White was ugly when I was a kid. I have every single princess in a Barbie doll-type form...except for Snow White.

My great-grandmother gave me this porcelain Snow White doll when I was 10 or 11. I've always felt guilty because of how ugly I thought that thing was, yet it was a gift from my great grandmother, who I adored. It used to reside in my room, and for a long time, I never voiced how ugly I thought it was. Then I finally got tired of looking at it and feeling guilty every time I looked at it, so I moved it to my parents' basement, which is Disney-themed. I don't plan on taking it with me when I move out. I will probably pass it down to my daughter/granddaughter, if I have one, otherwise, I'll pass it along to another one of my great grandmother's descendants.

Of course my dislike of Snow White also stems from her being so helpless and being unable to do anything for herself besides clean. I don't mind her voice, but her inability to do anything to change her life irritates me. Much prefer Once Upon a Time Snow White, who ran from the queen, became a bandit, and eventually, took back her kingdom.

Yea, then that would be "Snow White: The Sequel".
This one definitely doesn't look like a helpless 14 yr. old to me (although I think here age in the Disney classic was actually 15). ;) :)

I have both of those on VHS. They, among six others, were cheap, WWII era films that Disney made with a limited staff in hopes of making some money and keeping their name alive. They were package films, in other words, basically a collection of shorts.
True, but even cheap can be good, and I remember the package films correctly then The 3 Cabaerllos and The Adventure of Ichabod and Mr.Toad were pretty good

I worked at The Disney Store when the collector princess dolls came out. After each one had it's run, we drew names for the display Dolls. I "won" (still had to pay full price) a total of four for my DWifey. Snow White, Pocahontas, Mulan, and Rapunzel. All my fellow CMs, obviously, wanted them. DWifey only really wanted Snow White. So, with her permission, the other three went back into another drawing for them.
Anyway, here she is... :)
