What's R&C? I'm sorry you had to switch...but better not to deal with the stomach problems. I'm really surprised they can't accommodate you there, though!
Rose and Crown which has an allergy safe menu. It wasn't a matter of them not having something my ds and I could eat but no tortilla chips in a Mexican restaurant wouldn't be much fun. I'm also thinking R&C would be better for Illuminations any way:)

the gas station with the old cars is right next to the "crossroads" (the mickey in the globe) right after the entrance to DHS I think.
Yes! That was it...it was right near the entrance. My memories of most things in MGM are kind of vague because I think we left pretty early. We just weren't finding a whole lot that we wanted to do. I get motion sickness, so coasters and thrill rides are off-limits for me, and as we were on our honeymoon, we didn't want to be doing a whole lot of separate stuff. We did BTMR in MK the first day and it put me out of commission for the next hour or so, so we decided not to repeat that mistake in the rest of the parks. Epcot is much more my speed...nice, easy rides that don't go up high or fast or twisty, and the world showcase where I can just look around. So we did much more there than we did in MGM, and we had a hard time in MGM with timing. The Indianna Jones thing had already started and we could see when the next show would start, but then we had to come back at that time if we went further into the park, or we had to find something to do in that area of the park so that we could get back for the next show. I really could have benefited from all the research I've done this trip!!

I get the 18 year olds and hotel rooms. Many are still in high school, my DD was. 18 is such a swishy age. Hotel owners have no idea when a reservation is made who will conduct themselves in an adult manner and the likelihood of bringing friends under 18 into that same hotel room registered or not is more likely than at 21. Underaged kids in a hotel room not related to the registered guests is an issue when things go wrong.
When I was just starting college, a coworker from my summer job came and stayed with me in my dorm room for a few nights because she was doing some first aid/life saving courses in town and she had booked a hotel room and when she got there, they wouldn't let her stay because she was only 19 and you had to be 21. She called me begging for a floor to crash on so she didn't have to sleep in her car. I think it's pretty standard in most places because she went to several motels and they all told her the same thing. I'm surprised that Disney allows that...I wonder what their age limit is.

I feel like it's age discrimination quite honestly. 18 is an adult. There are 18 year olds more mature than 21 year olds. Adult is adult is adult. If an 18-year-old brings a guest who is not registered, hotel kicks them out. Very simple. And what really irked me was that I couldn't get my own room there...but if I stayed with my parents there was an extra adult fee. :bored:
Well, think back to high school..and to most of the people you went to school with. I don't know you or what your high school was like, but while you seem to be mature, I know that most of the kids I went to high school with were complete IDIOTS at 18. Of course, some of them still are at nearly 40, but they'd at least have the sense not to, for example, light their farts on fire in the hotel room. I personally think that if a person is old enough to risk their life in the military, they should be considered a full fledged adult with all the privilege and responsibility that entails, but I can understand certain businesses being wary of certain age groups. Most teenagers are not known for their maturity, and having no way of knowing that you are one of the few who are, they have to stick to policy.

It was actually pretty good. It's Asian-Itallian fushion, which is a little odd, but it was good. It was nice because I ordered online and my order was ready when I got there. It took less than five minutes. It was much better than campus food. Well, at least our campus food. We're not known for our food.
Is there a campus that IS known for its food? In a good way, I mean? I stopped eating pork at our university because it smelled like livestock and tasted horrible and I ended up getting sick several times after eating pork there. I ordered a LOT of pizza. We had a pizza place in town that had $5 deals for a large pizza and a 2 liter bottle of coke. They did a booming business in the campus housing!

The MS and HS have excellent cafeterias more like a nice food court than anything else. They also have excellent salad bars:hungry:

Nice! Pretty much any school food I have encountered has been iffy.. I used to brown bag it at school. There were a few exceptions like pizza day, or fried chicken day, and once I got to high school, I ate salad bar a lot. We were on the free lunch program, which didn't help if you didn't buy lunches there, but elementary school didn't have a salad bar.

Here is another case about an inconsiderate minority of people in a certain age group, ruining it for everyone else. You are certainly very responsible, and it's a shame that you're lumped into a red-flagged group, simply because of your age.

Hoteliers are skittish once they're burned by a group that has broken the rules. Truth is, older adults as well, have also trashed hotel property, had loud and obnoxious parties, and exceeded the number of people allowed on the room reservation. But here's where the line is the sand is drawn between the two age groups: In the hoteliers' minds, they assume that older adults who misbehave that badly are not the norm overall, and they will be able to pay the full damages. So, older adults' transgressions are not exactly viewed in the same light as their younger counterparts. And yes, it is not fair, but a private business can set it's own rules, unfortunately, in this type of scenario. Again, sorry to hear that your attempted reservation was refused..

Ok, hubby is home now so I asked and he said he thought it was the Men in Black attraction I didn't go on, because he remembers shooting aliens. So I suppose it could be that and maybe the little girl was wearing a star wars shirt or something that I started talking to her about star wars...I just know that they wouldn't let her on and she was in tears and I tried to distract her and we talked about Star Wars. And the mom was mad because they had let an even smaller kid on the ride, probably because it was a boy.

Sometimes height is just employee error or indifference. They all rotate their cast on each attraction, it is to keep them more alert as most of it is rather mundane. One employee might be very nitpicky and the next sees it as close enough. My DD still manages a waterpark a few days a week. Her frustration with the very young lifeguards is water slide height measurements. One letting them go down for 30 minutes and then they rotate and they are not tall enough with the next guard. Kid doesn't understand, parents go wig-oh. The rule is the same it is just if it is enforced or not. With her it happens with guys or gals.

You made an excellent observation there. I, also, was immediately drawn to Figment the first time I saw him back around 1985 (first trip to WDW). Never saw, nor knew, what a "Figment" (purple funny creature) was before I entered that Imagination pavilion. I even bought a stuffed Figment in the gift shop at that time. Hence, your opinion about not needing to know a backstory of an attraction is certainly true, if the attraction is so well presented that it draws in the crowds, and people return again to enjoy it.

I think it's the colours. Purple and orange.

They did with the harry potter ones..
at least the inside queues.. the outside queues are enormous.
very similar to the design of Spiderman and Transformers.

Jungle Cruise was always frustrating. You never know which rooms will be open to queue. You think you're to the front and bam lots more to go. Pirates is the same way for the unsuspecting, you're in a cave not knowing when it is going to end. Space kinda does that too if you are not familiar, you get to the top and find another whole room to wind yourself through if you are not aware and sometimes you are filtered through the space behind the wall. We tend to know WDW queues well but initially Uni not so much. The newer guests to WDW are likely as just as surpised some of the queue surprises as WDW.
