Good morning all. ok not so much for me. We got about 4 inches of snow followed by sleet and freezing rain and now it's up to 40ish but the wind is howling and I can still hear pellets hitting the roof. There's a 2 hour delay for school and I'm not sure they'll be able to get it open at all. YUCK!!!!!!! I hate winter. That furry little liar is going down and getting turned into General Tsao's groundhog tonight:D i truly hope none of you have to deal with this carp!
No school today for us. We got 8 inches of snow overnight. :devilish:

Is it a park district pool or a resort. We have one like that in a Marriott near Ohare Airport. As a kid I thought it was so cool, you had to swim under the window wall to get outside. Bet Lifeguards hated that.
It's at the rec center. They have a combo deal for swimming and skyzone. Skyzone is an indoor play area with climbing walls, trampolines, a sort of rope course at the top that's netted so you can't fall, a soccer wall, etc...but there are several pools and on Sunday afternoon they add extra stuff in the deep pool for kids, so there was an "Jungle Joe" climbing thing with a slide. Then there's the pool that periodically has a section with a current, a bubble section, and then there's a plastic curtain that you have to go through to get outside. The outside part is really small and tends to attract teens who...um..want some privacy. But it wasn't very populated on Sunday because all the teens thought it was too cold.

I have read some Nora Roberts. I do like her stuff too. I have read some of her JD Robb stuff too, and that is okay. I did read the Sweet Valley High adult book, and it was pretty good. It was interesting to see how the author continued the girls' story into adulthood.

Yeah, I don't think I would read Moby even if was a free copy. Maybe if I was stranded on a deserted island and that's all I had. I never could get into the Bronte or Austen stuff either.
Oh I love Jane Austen, and I really liked Jane Eyre, but the other Bronte stuff I've read has not impressed me. I really am not very picky with my reading. Do you know what the sweet valley adult book is called? I want to look it up! I've read a few of the JD Robb books...they are good, though a bit predictable. My husband likes them, too.

Yesterday I woke up to 24 degrees, nasty day all day. Freezing rain, sleet and snow. Most things closed. Today when I awoke it was 54 degrees, still raining, but, so much better. And that's what I like about the south.
Same here. It's about 50 and raining. It poured on my way here, so much so that I had my wipers on full and was still only able to go about 25 in a 40. Had to put my hazards on. I've never had to do that because of weather before. Ended up being late to class...along with half the class. But at least it's not as cold. Even with the blizzard we had, our highs have mostly been above freezing this winter, although we had a bitterly cold weekend.

This Saturday is supposed to hit 60. I fully intend to go outside and walk my street and enjoy it.

I guess my brain doesn't operate that way, I look for medical explanations and the amount of time over the last decade I've spent in hospitals with my Dad and FIL and rehab centers from various surgeries, my Dad would be long Dead twice, once complete blockage of heart and the other gall bladder jaundice, they rolled him immediately into surgery. Both times wishy washy as I called paramedics. My FIL would not have lived another 10 years after a fall/bleeding of brain. Me I just could not leave and not check in on someone who wasn't well and was expected to be up and about with us. We also had my MIL go missing in the mist and after 3 hours we had a Silver Alert APB out on her (elderly-Amber type alert) and when the police finally found her she was in the middle of the state on the Wisconsin Border a year and half ago. No clue as to where she was but ran out of gas in middle of the road. The police ran the plate and the Silver Alert popped up. I just tend to run on the precautionary side. Guess that is just how I'm wired.

As for Scalia he was hunting with men he knew for years, one especially for over 20 years both in Mississippi and elsewhere. It is sad to see a man with such a strong mind pass. Kinda cool he was still mentally strong enough to travel and still hunt at that age. There were US Marshals there, they have training as first responders. So close yet so far away I guess. While I really disagreed with the man on many of his professional views I had a lot of respect for his thought process and his convictions. He lived life and had an amazing one. I just try to block out the hunting thing.
Well, you knew your parents were sick....Scalia was pretty healthy wasn't he? I mean, there hadn't been any talk about heart troubles, or health issues. If he had been sick, I'm sure most people WOULD have gone to check. But if you don't know, and he just said he didn't feel well, you wouldn't have any cause to think it was anything other than a bug or being tired. Your mind wouldn't automatically go to something serious if the person wasn't known to have a medical condition that they should be worried about. Or at least I wouldn't. When my friend died, no one knew he had a heart condition. He was visiting his girlfriend in Canada and was just feeling really tired and after several days, she convinced him to get checked at the doctor. She was thinking like Mono, or something, not heart problems. It's just not what you think of immediately when someone is not known to have a health issue. But it is really sad that it happened away from his family...on the other hand, I'm betting he was happy. I don't know how old he was...
