Thank you i wish we could claim all the credit. I think he's one of those kids who was born mature.
I'm so glad for you; DD had to go through the teens, but has come out on the other side and I can't be more proud of her and the job she is doing with the Grandsons, not that they aren't having their moments too. DD was sometimes 30 and 12 at the same time. I was too, as an old cliche , the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. At least in my case. ;)

Oh no, my good friend, I'll take my Texas weather over yours allllllllll day long, every single day of the year....!

But, there's beer up here, too. And, you wouldn't have to do a beer "run" (like down there), because the temperatures up here are so brisk, that the beer will stay nice and frosty for you, even just strolling home. (No need for running home to keep the beer cold, like down there in hot Texas.)

Just lookin' out for your best interests, good buddy! ;)

Good morning all. For me not so much. It's 15 degrees outside but it looks like the temperature may not budge until tonight and then it only goes down:mad::cautious::coldfeet::cry: Then the wind is going to pick up:bawling::arghh::mad::coldfeet::coldfeet::coldfeet::coldfeet: or it may pick up before noon:arghh::bawling::arghh::coldfeet::coldfeet::coldfeet::coldfeet::cry::cry::cry: Tonight's dinner roast groundhog with chestnut stuffing gravy, mashed potatoes and green bean casserole. A celebration of his demise!:D
I'm sorry as I know how you hate this. Hoping for better weather your way next week. You took one for me, and now I owe you. If only we could all banish old man winter! No offence to the guys on here.;)

When I was in college, some of my friends and I would head up to Lake Marie in the Snowies. We'd stop and get a bucket of fried chicken and have a picnic. And every year for our top level choir, we had a retreat in the Snowies. There was a lodge up there and it was gorgeous and isolated, and we'd do ice breaker games to get to know the new members (it changed every year because people graduated and we held new auditions) and then we'd close the day by going outside and singing one of the pieces we'd been working on...usually something dramatic and religious in nature....the one I particularly remember was Sing Out My Soul. I think it might have been an arrangement our director did, but it was beautiful and somehow majestic when sung out in the mountains...I miss that.
We camped in the Rockies, for over 30 years, and we never missed church held at the Rocky Mountain Campground, different pastors working toward graduating seminar, it was always so majestic and soul cleansing . You could even take your pets, I could never get over how, Freddie, our little dog that resembled Benji, was so good during those services, it seemed he would sit still and listen. The rest of the camping trip, well let's just say he would go a little wild!

Isn't supposed to go above 30F here today. I think it's about time that we revoke North Carolina's right to be called a southern state. With the wind whipping around it feels so very similar to thousands of days that I have experienced as a Vermonter. However, by Tuesday it's supposed to be pushing 70 degrees so I got that going for me.
Lucky you. There is always sun after the storm, just some of us, have to wait a lot longer!;)

Oh I have several....I am a pretty voracious reader and not real picky. I don't read thrillers and I can't handle anything TOO graphic...hubby won't let me read Game of Thrones. And there are some things in the Outlander series that are a bit much for me, but I love the overal storyline, so I can bear it. But I read pretty much anything but thriller and fanfiction. I have a friend who is trying to get published and I beta read for her...well, I have a couple of people I beta read for, but this one I read for her more than anyone else. Did I mention I'm a huge NERD?

I love to read too. So nerds unite! I'm not into anything too gory but some mysteries are good. I do love my Danielle Steel books too, they are like literary candy. Easy to read, predictable, but very entertaining.

That's my kind of reading. I used to read a lot of political books, but I'm so over those. I do love true history though. I wish my eyes were better, I used to read a couple books a week, and would stay up in the early morning hours to finish a book. Now, my eyes get tired after a couple hours. And now I'm into Murder Mysteries. They are easy to figure out after a few chapters, and I go on to the end to see if I'm correct. If I am, I put the book away, if not..I go back to see how the plot changed.
