Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
My DD is starting to take down her Christmas decor. I'm going to miss hers more than mine. The room was great when the tree lit the room.

Hey all. Hope all is well. I've been a little off the grid over the holiday season, but I hope you all had an amazing time with your loved ones. Here are a few quick holiday memories from my break (office was closed for 2 weeks!):

First, Christmas came!

Then a quick trip to Long Island wine country.

And Phil joined a wine club!

And then, it was New Year's Eve:

Oh wait, I'm sad. I meant to have a drink in my hand in every single picture.

;)

Oh well, that last one blew it. Happy new year anyway, everyone. May 2016 be a really wonderful year for us all.
Thank you and I'm so glad you guys had a great holiday. but I have a question you said Phil joined the wine club, What about you? Didn't you also join?

The worst thing is I'm beginning to think I won't be able to do my solo trip to WDW at the end of this month, as I'll probably need to deal with all this divorce carp instead. But, I'm talking with my lawyer tomorrow to see what he thinks. I could really use a break! Worst case scenario is I just need to postpone it for later this year.
Good luck. I hope you get to go!

Also, saw Star Wars again with my friend last night. She lives an hour away, and spur-of-the-moment we decided to see it at around 8 pm, so since she has an hour commute home, she stayed over here. We were up until almost 2 am having a really in-depth conversation about Star Wars. Then today, we watched Star Trek...I have found a fellow nerd.:geek:
I think of you more as geek chic

That would be disappointing to cancel. I hope you don't have to!

After an all day rain, no rain the next day makes for a perfect day no matter if it is cloudy, windy or chilly. Glad it was a great day.

Run Disney Folk arriving?
no idea, but you know magic kingdom is packed, when stich is a 70 minute wait.

Peter Pan was hovering between 90 and 180, we had our FPs so we enjoyed it allright.

speaking of stuff.. the bathrooms near pinochio village haus, were AWFUL. truly trashed.
Very different from the rest of the park, that had armies of cms cleaning nonstop.

The original resorts, including the ones they knocked down in DTD were nice sized. The Contemporary is too busy of a resort for my liking but we did appreciate the extra space in the room. That was my problem with AKL Resort rooms they were about the size of the moderates with the same amenities in the room except we had a balcony. Since I could count the minutes I spent on the balcony I was hard pressed to go all the way out there and pay substantially more for a smallish standard room. We spend almost all of our awake hours in the parks so the rest was wasted on us. While the lobby was beautiful, I never spent any time in the lobby beyond checking in.

I have to say the year we got bumped out of POR and shifted to AKL for the same price for the 4th of July week was more than acceptable though. Then my package trip was oversold for our 7am flight, $400 in Disney Dollars to take the 10 am flight. Then they couldn't find our Disney Dollars so they gave us some upon check-in cause it was noted on our reservations. Then there on our table was $400 in Disney Dollars waiting for us the next day (likely the originals). We explained, they looked at us like we were from Mars, and said enjoy them. Yep, that trip worked out nicely. Upgrade to a deluxe resort and $800 in Disney Dollars for taking a 3 hour later flight. When we use to book all inclusive packages, Walt Disney Travel was the best.
good to know they fixed and bumped your stuff for these mistakes.
Id love AKL as well, its gorgeous.
While this Hotel I am right now is good ( Old Key West) You cant beat the theming of AKL.

btw, did I mentioned that the Contemporary looks like a carphole?
no seriously, trash everywhere in the first 3 floors (Chef mickeys area up to the monorail area)

I can only guess that I have some real investigative powers, but, I am now 90% sure that there was some form of alcohol involved in all those events. I'm right aren't I?

We were up until almost 2 am having a really in-depth conversation about Star Wars. Then today, we watched Star Trek...I have found a fellow nerd.:geek:
I had a bit of a conversation with my 16 year old grandson the other day brought on by the fact that the most excited he got over his Christmas gifts was a t-shirt with the Table of Elements printed on the front. He asked for it specifically and I got it for him. When he got all excited I called him a nerd. He replied that he was one and was proud to be it. Cool, I thought. Then we discussed the difference between a nerd and a geek. He informed me that a nerd was a person that was focused on certain endeavors that will eventually make him either incredibly rich or famous or both. A geek, however, was someone with a fun obsession that will never lead to fame or riches, but, for them is extremely enjoyable. He also admitted that at times he was both.

So based on that, I would have to say that what you have there is a fellow geek. Not that there's anything wrong with that. ;):)
Hmmm....not the first then. Maybe the next one??? Don't remember as much about the space stuff as the odd day we watched TV all together in a classroom. I also remember the day I forgot the 4Cents for my milk. Hated milk but for some reason when you can't have a carton you remember.
The first thing that I remember having us all gather in school was when John Glenn made his first trip to space. Three orbits, if I recall, and that was on a tiny little black and white, 12" snowy screen. State of the art at the time.
I have the smallest bedroom...
That could be because you have so much junk in there, it only looks small.
