I think there are rude people everywhere however those of us are vertically challenged really are onguard for those taking aim.

One of the worst things at Disney for me is taller with big backpacks. When they turn I get knocked upside the head with the backpack. Have had glasses knocked off my face. People tend to forget how wide they are back there with these backpacks they seem to be stuffed with more for the parks than my carry on luggage for the week.

Interesting sidebar-Many of the Chinese Students at my DD University (and there are many from China) wear their backpacks across their chest vs their back.

I think that's an anti-theft thing. When I went to Paris the 2nd time, it was recommended to do that. But I didn't put anything valuable in my backpack. I had some snacks and a guidebook in it, and we were heading down into the subway and these 2 guys were behind me, which was weird because my husband was already through, there were 2 or 3 styles you could go through, and I was slow...it didn't make sense for these guys to be behind me rather than go around me. So I turned around to look and felt the zipper on my backpack. The 2 guys hot-footed it back up the stairs and away and my backpack was hanging open. But there was nothing for them to steal or I would have had it on my front like this.

Fabulous idea! And I see your DD is also a fan of Monster High. My daughter loves watching it.
Yep, Monster high and Violetta. We're big fans of the Disney Channel. We just got fiber optics internet and tv cables installed in the Summer and it would be cheaper to get everything from the same provider, but I refuse to give up Disney channel and our TV provider is the only one who offers Disney, and we had internet from them for a while and twice a week we were without telephone or internet or both, so we won't go back to them.

I avoided naming my children odd names, weirdly spelled, dated family names, in memory of anyone for that and other reasons. A name should never be a burden IMO. I've always been in the camp if you loved uncle that much and want to honor uncle, change your own name to that, the newborn has no say. I fixed my name when I was married, it is free to legally change then. Way too annoying to have a strange spelling of your name and it was always being questioned or spelled wrong.
We picked out names for our kids before we were even married, but it was kind of a big deal because so many names we liked weren't good either in the US or in the Netherlands. We liked the name Zachary for a boy, but it gets shortened to Zach, which when pronounced in Dutch means testicle. So no Zachary. My daughter's name is spelled differently in Dutch than it is in English, so we went with the Dutch spelling since we live here, and then picking a nickname for her was difficult. I didn't like the common one from her name, hubby hates the other one and it is considered VERY old fashioned here....like calling your daughter Bertha or Penelope. So we didn't know what to call her and then my MIL said her mother had been called this other name, which I misunderstood with the Dutch pronunciation, and that's how we came up with her name. But I'm the same...I didn't want to give them cause to hate their names.

Our tradition is to have no formal sit down meal. I make snacks and sides, and crockpot meatballs, and chili, corn bread, egg salad for one grandson. Ham sandwiches for the other. Chex mix. Cookies, baked beans, and mac and cheese. We do a snack whenever we want , as we play any new games, or put together puzzles. Such a fun day!
That sounds like a great tradition. I miss chex mix. My mom always made it at Christmas, too...that and her poppyseed bread, and 3 types of cookies: Cutouts, spritz, and sandies. I miss all that stuff. No one in my house likes sandies but me, so I haven't made them most years, and chex don't exist here and there's nothing remotely like it.

I have a very hard time sleeping in quiet. I don't watch TV during the daytime hours but always have a radio going or music playing. Even when I walk Walt by myself I have headphones in one ear.

I have not had problems sleeping for a while but it is the time of the year where there is so much to do and little time to finish it off. Right now this is my chill break before I get back to straightening the house and wrapping some gifts. MySis and her family will be here in the morning likely with my Mom. I envy my Sis. She has a housekeeper. She cleans, does laundry along with changing the beds.
There's always so much noise in my house that when I'm finally by myself, I like to unplug. I used to always have music going, but since I had kids, I enjoy the quiet, though I do like to have music while I'm working out or while I'm baking.

Oh to have a housekeeper!!! That would be heaven!

Yeah, the Dad was just cluelessly stupid. Still we had several issues over the year where we had teams try and beat our kids Club Team by acting unethical. One year at the Championship meet the host team removed our two judges before the start of the meet saying they didn't need them. Each team had 2 judges, they suddenly had 4. Meet delayed an hour until the Host team followed bylaws.

During the summer it was raining during a meet at night, pretty chilly. They bullpenned their swimmers indoors and put ours out in the grass. Our coach pulled all of our swimmers and put them on the bus and we went home. Then there was the conference meet where we had judges from teams that were disqualifying a good chunk of our swimmers. Was so annoyed when the dude said my son never touched the wall. He wouldn't have stopped and bounced back had he not. Horrid meet. And it isn't like any of these kids were going to grow up to be professionals. Whoever heard of a career as a professional swimmer? And only so many get to go to the Olympics every 4 years. Sometimes Big people are just too vested in their kids sports.
Yep...not just sports, either. When I was in high school, my brother and I were doing an excerpt from Phantom of the Opera for Duet interpretation (speech and debate). We had been doing really well the whole season, breaking into at least Semi-finals at pretty much every meet if not placing. So we get to State, thinking this was our year. And every round we were in, it was people we had beat at other meets or they were obviously not as polished as we were. We thought we had it locked...and then we didn't break. We got our jury sheets back and we hadn't placed higher than 4th place in a single round, though we KNEW we should have had straight 1sts, maybe one 2nd. Turned out that one or 2 of the other teams didn't want their kids having to compete against us because we were doing too well and they knew they didn't stand a chance, so they told the person in charge that our piece was illegal, and rather than following the rules and challenging it so we could show them our source and prove it was fine, they just told the judges not to rank us higher than 4th place so we wouldn't go through. We were devastated. And it's so sad that people in a high school competition will do that to get ahead. But no one wanted their teams to go up against the people who are slated to win, so they all went with it because they all benefited from it.
