While I learned French, a given where I grew up, socially it was the language to learn, it was pretty dang useless. Funnier because I worked for a German firm my entire first career.

Still I grew up in an era where English was global language everyone spoke. Subsequently Spanish became the coveted language to learn given the immigration to the USA. Now an equally coveted language in the workplace in this area is Polish.
and chinese, do not forget chinese..

Thanks I needed a straight shot of tequila last night. Sure is a great pain killer.;)

I don't drink tequila often but that stuff as far as liquor goes isn't so bad for your body, yes a pain killer, known to aide in digestion lowers bad cholesterol, breaks down better than most other liquors because the sugars are simple sugars and body doesn't have a hard time with them.
They were talking about it on the news this week and they say just to buy the good stuff 100% Agave. Many can go as low as 49% in USA.

The only other liquor I have read about that also has some real good properties and even better than tequila as far as liquors go is Gin.
99.9% of the time I have a glass of wine but that goes down to 50-50 in the World Showcase. :joyfull:

Not today at least. Going out with a friend tonight. And she might stay over (we're not 100% sure yet, but she's got an hour commute home and no work tomorrow, so she might). I was planning on watching Star Wars tomorrow. I might still. Just with some company. And the kitchen is getting remodeled starting in January, so my mom wants help getting ready. Moving stuff to the basement and all. Then we leave Wednesday for SC for a week. So I will be packing. And then go down there and rest.

Just becareful woman. I worry about your hand and your foot. Don't want anything happening to you again. Take it easy and slow.

Thought I'd give you all an easy X-mas recipe.

Monkey Bread

Quick and dirty, and awesome with Gingerbread French Press Coffee (which I'll include as a later recipe)

Ingredients
3 12 oz tins of Buttermilk Biscuits (I wanted Pillsbury, but couldn't find them in that size, so I got Publix Brand...first time using Publix Brand, but they turned out just fine for this! I like the 12 oz cans for reasons related later, but you can use the larger ones if you prefer Pillsbury brand (understandable))
1 cup of sugar
3 tsp of ground cinnamon
1 cup of dark brown sugar
1/2 cup of margarine (unsalted butter is fine, but I actually think margarine works better for this, I've tried it with both)
1 bag (1 cup) of crushed pecans (optional)
1 bag (1 cup) of crushed walnuts (optional)
6 boxes (however much that is after nibbling some) of snack size sunmaid raisins, approx 1 cup)
1/2 box of Butterscotch Pudding Mix (the cook and serve powder kind)

Step 1) Preheat the oven to 350. Chop or crush the nuts into smaller pieces.

Step 2) Spray a bundt pan down with nonstick cooking spray or rub with butter flavour crisco.

Step 3) Sprinkle some of the crushed pecans in the pan. Then some raisins. Then some walnuts. Then sprinkle evenly with butterscotch pudding mix.

Step 4) Mix the cinnamon and sugar into a container, and add the biscuits. This is one of the reasons why I like the 12 oz container size. The biscuits are the perfect size for this, so you can just separate them as you normally would. Shake and sprinkle the sugar onto the biscuits to coat.

Step 5) Arrange the biscuits, slightly overlapping, but still with gaps, in a layer.

Step 6) Repeat step 3, creating another layer of nuts, raisins and pudding mix.

Step 7) Repeat Step 4 and 5, creating another layer of biscuits. Push any remaining biscuits into place, but don't close all the gaps.

Step 8) Sprinkle any remaining raisins and nuts, as well as another sprinkling of butterscotch pudding mix on the base.

Step 9) In a saucepan, melt the brown sugar and butter together over medium heat, stirring often and breaking up any clumps. After it comes together, allow it boil for a minute or so. Then stir again to recombine and pour it evenly into the pan.

Step 10) Bake for 35 - 40 minutes.

Step 11) Remove from the oven, then let it stand for at least 10 - 15 minutes to cool.

Step 12) Turn it out onto a serving dish.

Step 13) Serve. You can sprinkle some powdered sugar on top to make it all "fancy" if you like, but there's really no need! Also, no need to cut, the bread pulls apart as smaller biscuits and is made to be eaten with serving forks, or if a big happy family, fingers!

(side note...if it falls apart, specifically the top layer...as you shake it gently out of the pan onto the plate, that's fine. Just turn the pan back over, stay calm, and use a spoon to pry out the pieces and put it back together. There will be enough nut/caramel combo to hide any spots. Mine often fall apart...with the top layer liking to stay in the pan in pieces, including this one...can you tell?)

DEVOUR!

I love Money Bread. Your recipe is close to identical to mine but I don't use nuts or raisins. In lieu of pudding I wrap the dough around little balls of cream cheese that melt down likely to the consistency of your pudding. My dough balls are smaller than yours but your glaze/syrup mixture is identical. Yours is prettier than mine though. You have a nicely detailed bundt pan, I like. :inlove:

Oy yes Chinese. Which dialect? It is the same issue with many of the languages spoken in the mid-east region. So many languages and dialects. For the brief time when I lived in the City where my Dad grew up there were lots of WW-One immigrants. Most spoke German but many also spoke Hungarian. Being little I could tell when they would switch from German to Hungarian, usually when they didn't want kids to understand. I can still understand the most conversations in German but can't read a lot of it.

Wow!!! DWifeys office Christmas party was awesome tonight...!!!!! :joyfull:
Good sweet night, and the sweetest of dreams to one and all of you sweet people...!!!!!!! :joyfull:
See y'all reeeeeaaaaalllll sooooooonnnnn...!!! :)

So glad this is working out for her. After the last few gigs she deserves a nice place to work.

And it is nice to see some companies going back to inviting a guest. I understand both sides of that coin though. Some spouses would like to go, others dread. Then the pressure for those who would rather go alone or have nobody to drag with. Socializing with your spouse or socializing with just the people you work with getting a chance to get to know them.

So DD and I went to check out this event at the Queen Mary called CHILL. It wasn't quite what I expected, but still good fun. One of the main attractions is The Ice Kingdom, which consists of ice sculptures depicting A Christmas Carol. Here are some pics (before we first entered we were told that with a temperature 9 degrees inside it would be possible for the glass on our cameras to crack. I was almost afraid to enter after hearing that!)

Good morning and happy Sunday. Going out to finish up getting food for the week and cookie making items. The cookie making list is very short this rear! My dh got on the scale and let's just say he not very happy so it's only going to be 2 regular batches of cookies (Peanut butter chocolate chip and MM cookies) and 2 for my baby and me(Lemon shortbread and chocolate chip) At least it's going to be beautiful today 70 degrees and sunny. My type of weather this time of year!

Baking Cookies is one of the things I gave up years ago at Christmas. Lets just say I like eating them more than I like baking them and it made Christmas time around here easier. I admire those who love it and are good at it.

We have had several days that are now leaving well into the 60's but it rained most of today. Still warm and better than snow.

I laughed so hard when I saw this photo on the news Friday. Just saw it again. Gotta love a cat that know how to interrupt a family portrait to have a selfie of himself instead. :inlove: :hilarious:
