Now see I love Do They Know It's Christmas. It always makes me pause and think about the crazy commercialism in my part of the world in contrast to real need. But I never thought about the line you mentioned (Bono's line) that way before. I thought it was criticizing people for being selfish and thinking that way. I do see what you are saying.

I suppose it can be taken both ways, and probably be seen in the light you mentioned.

I can't stand that song: Last Christmas. The lyrics are so terrible to me and it is over played. But at least it isn't Do They Know It's Christmas, this song has to be worse than Little Drummer Boy (even with its rum-pa-pa-pums). I mean who puts the lyrics (not quoted exactly): "Thank God it's them and not you, in a Christmas song. I know it is a fund raiser song for Band Aid about the famine in Africa. But it just seems a little wrong it seems like they are saying be grateful others are down on their luck. I don't know it just strikes me wrong.

I don't mind that song but I loathe We Are The World.

I have a lot of flowers. A lot. Both Hummingbirds and Monarch butterflies now flock here. I had gone most of my life without seeing hummingbirds, now the little guys hang here frequently in the warm months. I do worry about the hummingbirds though since I also bred preying mantis' Those little buggers will swallow a hummingbird whole.

I love Last Christmas. I don't really pay much attention to the lyrics - I mostly like the melody. But I'm also a huge Wham fan.
