B's happen. Unfortunately. I wouldn't worry about it. It's great to have A's as the standard, but honestly, because my dad has never accepted B's, I don't tell him anything about my school grades. Even in college, he doesn't ask and I don't tell (Mom is completely aware of my grades because she's calmer). I have a 3.8 GPA. He doesn't need to know the specifics. Self-motivated kids don't need too much parental intervention. Just encourage him to improve, be that raising it to an A or B+

FYI, my dad just walked in and asked why I wasn't doing my homework. I was (hence the textbook). "Turn the TV off; you can't do homework in front of the TV." I'm in college; if I want the TV on while doing homework (which I did all the time in high school), I think I can decide that for myself. The TV is still on.
I found that having the TV on, helped me to concentrate, on studies, and not a conversation!

Is everyone out watching the news? Did I run everyone off with so many pics. Sorry. Come back everyone. What happened to @MR FERRET ?
The news is too depressing lately with what's happening in Paris. What happened is absolutely horrible, but spending all my time dwelling on it accomplishes nothing. I'm working on homework and have Men in Black III on in the background.

Funny thing: I called my brother down because Men in Black III is one of his favorite movies. I asked him if he wanted to watch it with me, and he told me no. That lasted all of five minutes. He's sitting on the couch watching it.

Great response. If people dwell on this, Isis wins. The day after 911 we boarded a plane to Disney. We had almost the plane to ourselves. We understand the loss, after going through many loss of life in family, some expected some not. Life needs to go on, one to respect those lost, and more importantly to not let the barbarians win.

View attachment 119174 View attachment 119175 View attachment 119176 The Osborne lights were fantastic tonight!! Ate at the Brown Derby lounge and loved it. And I'm really diggin' the Swan hotel I love sitting on the balcony and watching the lighted Palm trees "dance" to music.

I've also enjoyed the balcony rooms (I don't always get them, but usually try to). They're really nice arounf 4:00 AM when no one is up, and you can sit outside in the dark with your coffee next to you on the little side table. It's also fun watching the very early a.m. crews out cleaning, and delivering linens, etc. in those golf carts. It's very peaceful outside in the early morning--my favorite time down there. :inlove: So glad you're enjoying the Swan!!

I'm going to be off line for a couple days. Or only post a little. It seems in my attempt to slice my turkey really thin, I sliced a small piece off the end of my finger. So my typing is slow.

Oh no! I hope it doesn't hurt. :( What we do to get our food just perfect . . . we've all had our kitchen mishaps over the years. I hope the finger heals soon. At least you can still join us by reading here--you don't have to type until your finger is better. :) We'll know you're around!! :cat:

I got called in to work last night, which was a bit of a juggle with transportation since my bike died, but I managed. And now I have a nice shiny 2nd-hand bike, which will have anti-leak tires by the end of the day and I can pick it up. Yay me. Tomorrow we have a birthday party for my friend's sons. She does the party together because one was born at the end of October and the other was born in the first half of December ON her birthday. So party in November, kill 2 birds with one stone. Those are our weekend plans. OH!! And Sinterklaas arrived in the Netherlands today, so the season begins. I need to go buy shoe gifts.
Congrats and enjoy your bike! Are shoe gifts anything like stocking stuffers?

What's wrong with a B? My mom got mad at me once because I brought home an A-. I don't understand what was wrong with that to this day. I remember in 7th grade, I got a B+ in Science and I was crying and my friends didn't understand why, because they thought it was a great grade, but they didn't have to take it home to my mother, who was expecting straight A's.

I think A and B's are good grades especially when sometimes you learn stuff you don't need in life.
