I didn't see the episode, but I did think the author was being unfair. The complaint about the germs was the most ridiculous. Also about moving all the way across the row.

I don't believe her when she says she's been "3 dozen times." Maybe she went to MK and Epcot 3 dozen days in the 70s and 80s, but someone who has been on three dozen trips would figure out how to handle the system without feeling "stressed." The only reason she felt stressed was that she had unrealistic expectations on how to go about her day. You cannot get prime spots for the parade and fireworks and still get on every single attraction and have time for meals. Plan what's important. Which bring me back to the fact that she has not been 3 dozen times. Otherwiwe, she would know this.

Just felt like an article that was complaining for the sake of complaining and trying convince others not to go. If it were more positive and negative and if the blogger were willing to acknowledge her own failures, I would be more willing to accept it. Of, if she had said "It's nice every once in a while, but I'd rather go someplace on my next vacation where I don't have to deal with crowds and lines," then I would say to each his own. This though, just, no.

I agree. If you have an opportunity over Semester break watch the episode. Priceless when they get to Space Mountain and see the line out to the center of Tomorrowland.

I was stationed in Niagara Falls back in the late 60's. My feeling is if you have seen one drop of water drop off a cliff you have seen them all. The Canadian side does have a lot more tourist trap things though, like Ripley's and Houdini. (if it's still there) And you can go down under the falls through a tunnel on the Canadian side and see the actual backside of water.:)

Looking at the falls themselves I always felt that it was better on the American side because the Canadian (Horseshoe) Falls is much grander. The American Falls, as viewed from Canada just looks like a pile of ruble with water running over it.

I am with ya. I've seen enough nature in my lifetime. I spent my entire childhood looking at oceans, mostly the Atlantic or the gulf, some water is bluer some sand is whiter and other has more rocks in it. I can sit on a beach or around a pool for about an hour. I've driven through the mountains, I've seen the red wood forest, looked into the canyon canoed down a major river. I can't say I wish to revisit the natures I've seen and lack the desire to see more trees, water, rock. Now put me on a Mountain on Aspen to ski down or put me at Blizzard Beach for the day, cycle through a forest preserve with my Pup and I'll have a blast. I'm not much of a spectator, I've always wanted to be doing something over just staring at it.

Okay, a story

Warning: this story contains stupid people. Read at your own risk.

I was getting ready to go over to the other campus. I was standing outside my car at the trunk. A car, big Ford Explorer, comes and tries to park in the very tight spot next to me. Well, as I am standing right next to my car, in the trunk, this car whacks mine so hard that I hear it and it shakes the entire car. The woman finally figures out that she can't park in the spot next to me, goes to another spot and parks halfway inside, half in the middle of the road.

And I wait there, expecting her to come over and check my car. Nope. She walks in the building. So I have to go get security, call my mom, who then says call Dad, and security has to look up her information and file their report.

And she was a professor. Security said that this kind of thing happens all the time...but normally a student hits another student or a staff member. A faculty member doesn't usually hit a student. They caught the whole thing on tape, and it's a hit and run. She's just lucky we decided not to contact the police and file a report.

Stupid. Stupid stupid stupid stupid.

The American-side view of the Falls is vastly inferior to the view from the Canadian side.
Well worth the price and aggravation of having to get a passport.

Plus, any cash you win in the Fallsview Casino is tax-free; as are all lottery winnings.
So, if you do head on up this way, be sure to pick up some 6/49 and Super 7 lottery tickets.

P.S. - We don't have amortized payments vs lump sum options. If you win $50 million, you get $50 million.
And if you get $50 million, I am claiming a 2% referral fee. Please.
And thank you.
ok, make me room!.. I'm going lotto shoppin'!

I agree. Not the skiing part, but I much prefer to actually be doing something. I can sit around a beach or a pool, but usually, I prefer to be in the water. If I'm laying there, unless I'm napping, I like to have a book. In Hilton Head I was always in the water. At the pool, I was either in or reading a book. At WDW, I'm usually fooling around in the water (though I can sit in a hot tub for a long time).

In Hawaii, we did a lot of driving around. There were times I was quite bored, even though it was beautiful. I much preferred when we were at Pearl Harbor, climbing Diamond Head, hiking, or snorkeling (the first trip there, the second one I was too sick to care. By the end, I just wanted to go home.) I liked Aulani because the water had no waves, so I could just swim out, swim under, pick up rocks, follow fish...it was neat. And the pool there is mini Blizzard Beach.

It's nice to sightsee, but I like to experience.

Also, just a comment on that article you posted, that blogger is not wrong about MBs and to some degree spontaneity, but the whole article isn't really logical and just comes across as whiny and selfish. First of all, on MBs, why is she complaining? They had no issues with MBs. You can still request RFID room keys if you don't want to wear a MB, but they are more convenient. Just not worth what Disney paid for the system. They're not without issues, but they do have a positive side, one she conveniently ignores.

She said she felt stressed. If she had picked up a guidebook, particularly the Unofficial Guide to WDW, she would have been better able to plan and work her way around the park. I very much doubt her claim about going "three dozen times" because someone who has gone that many times will know what they are doing and will not let the new system make them feel stressed. They will know the parks well enough to know how to plan it out. She sounds like she doesn't want to plan. Well guess what? DL doesn't have MBs or MM+ or any of that stuff, and dinner reservations can be made closer to the time of your visit. But you still have to have a gameplan before you enter the park. This person just sounded like she was on vacation and didn't want to have to think. And if she wanted to be more spontaneous, you can do that in low season. The fact that she didn't plan on her family eating and then blamed the system is ridiculous. On the old FP system, you would still have a set time if you grabbed your FPs earlier in the day, so plan your meals accordingly.

And the complaint about crowds is absolutely absurd. They are trying to prevent guests from stopping and leaving ginormous spaces. You don't have to be on top of another guest sitting there. It is to prevent guests from stopping in the middle of the row. And again, they say the same thing in DL. Her complaint is silly and comes across as selfish.

And perhaps the most laughable complaint is germs on the interactive screens. Really? There are germs everywhere, including handrails, which kids touch and even put their mouths on. That's what happens when you have several thousand guests coming through a park every day. It's called Hand Sanitizer. Or soap and water. They can be found in every bathroom.

She's not entirely wrong about MBs and FP+, but it sounds more like a complaining article than a balanced viewpoint with both positive and negative aspects.

I think, you misread the part of MBs.
She said that they "mostly" worked. They had failures from time to time.
And seen a lot of people having failures around her.

Also, I have to agree with her, you feel stressed when you have to play plan everything tiptoe. You can no longer be "spontaneous" without having to wait 30 or more minutes for attractions..even worse for sitdown restaurants.

Also, she said she had very good times before, not much anymore.

but I agree on the germs thing. She appeared germonophobic.
If she was worried about germs, she would be stuck in the safety of her home as germs are EVERYWHERE.

Update:

So the professor called me back. Acted very innocent. "I didn't know I hit your car! I saw you there, but I didn't know I hit it!"

Um, okay. Either
1. You are such a bad driver that you were totally unaware you hit someone.
2. You know you hit me but thought, "This tiny little student isn't going to do anything" and just didn't bother.

Either one is possible.

Ugh.
