On a yuckier note, I have had a migraine headache for three days. This hasn't happened in a very long time. Yesterday and Friday it lessened to a regular kind of headache for much of the day and would ramp up at dinner time. This morning, I woke up thinking it was gone but by lunch time it had come back with a vengeance...full strength. I can't sleep it off because every time I close my eyes I see a black spot pounding to the rhythm of my pulse. So for now, I am just laying back, browsing the boards, trying to relax. If it is still here tomorrow, I'm going to have to go to the clinic.
They were wonderful one of our favorite things, along with the empanada. Very flavorful.i thought the sliders were delicious. Did you like it?
Good, because that would have been hurtful! I'm so glad you took the high road.Ha! (I could make a joke about how much space coal takes up in a Christmas stocking, not leaving much room for anything else, but don't worry, I won't!)![]()
We never took the kids to the info night except the first year when they didn't say you couldn't bring them. The next year they said children weren't welcome and we pawned the kids off on a friend whose kids go to a different school. This year DD was allowed to come but DS was not, so hubs went to that and I stayed home with the kids and then I went to DD's. (they do it per class, not the whole school) With the Parent/teacher meetings, the kids aren't allowed in the meeting, but they can be in the hall, so that's what we do. I think the reason they changed the rules with the info night was mostly because of one idiotic woman that had several kids and they had 2 rounds of the presentation so parents could go to both if they had 2 kids, but this woman just got up in the middle of one and went into the next, children in tow, very noisily, disrupting all the presentations, etc. But most of the parents aren't like that, so there's no reason to ban the kids.Oh, I don't disagree with you. I never understood why they couldn't provide childcare in a separate space of the school for the one hour that the meet the teacher presentation takes. But, if I were explicitly told I should not take my child to something, I would stay home if childcare wasn't possible. Just my personality. (And that's probably one of the reasons why there were so few parents there.)
Now, parent-teacher interviews are a bit different. You aren't trying to hear an unmicrophoned teacher talk to you at the front of a gymnasium filled with 100 people. I would do what you did in a heartbeat. I have had to occasionally take my son to meetings for my work, for that matter. I stick him in my office with an iPad while we meet next door in the board room. (Less so after I remarried.)
Caffeine by itself is not as effective without taking aspirin with it. (The caffeine speeds up the analgesic effects of the aspirin.) Aside of that, maybe you need a stronger prescription from your doctor?
Huge sympathy like. I used to get really awful migraines and only sleep would get rid of them, but since I had my daughter they've mellowed out quite a bit. I still hate the auras, though, as they're very annoying. I hope yours goes away soon!
I'm so sorry to hear this, do you have cluster type of migraines? They come for several days in a row, and then disappear for a week or two maybe longer. I've always drank a cup of hot coffee and taken Advil, then go to a dark room and lie down. That helped for the day, then they would come back again and again, until one day I would get up and they were gone. I didn't have them until I had my daughter. After menopause , now I get the Aura's but no headache. I also found a shot of tequila would sometimes stop them in their track. I don't recommend this, but it worked for me when coffee and Advil didn't.On a yuckier note, I have had a migraine headache for three days. This hasn't happened in a very long time. Yes, I've heard that some people are kind of language deaf...they can't hear the nuances of languages, etc...some people have an ear for it and some don't. I had a friend over here who had been here longer than I was and could still hardly speak a word and the words she DID know, she pronounced horribly. It just depends on the person. I'm lucky that I seem to have an affinity for languages, so it wasn't really that hard learning Dutch when I got here.I can't do other languages either, I took French for four years, and could not speak it well after all that time. I had a foreign exchange student living next door and she spoke 4 languages fluently. It's how people are wired, I think...some catch on and there is the rest of us.
My sister told me about that, she reads everything and researches everything having to do with health and the "new" foods.Yah, bread and butter is awesome! What really surprised me was the changeover to Smart Blend. yuck . . . But more to the point, I didn't have a clue that the sterols are bad for your joints. That's good to know.
I wish I had that gift, it just passed me by, along with math.Yes, I've heard that some people are kind of language deaf...they can't hear the nuances of languages, etc...some people have an ear for it and some don't. It was my favorite show. I have all the DVDs and just finished a re-watch of them a month or so ago. LOVE it.I absolutely loved that show. And I loved Jackson. He was so cute with all his veggies.
I told him where to take the pictures, he has a very good and cheap camera it's amazing, as well as hubby's steady hand.Love the pictures, @betty rose ! Did you take all these, or did Mr. Bets take a few, too? They're very sharp and clear. My favorite is the Christmas one. It looks like white bulbs with pink ribbon on top (just like Minnie) for those decorations on the tree! Really pretty!!
I'm so hoping they stay. I would like more at the Magic Kingdom, but they have no room with the multitudes of people.Let's pray they don't take away the "extra" ones after F&W.
You know, I've always wondered what they would call us if they didn't just use the term "Americans". I mean...you've got variations when referencing citizens of other countries....you add "an" like CanadiAN, MexicAN, BraziliAN. And then there is "ese"...Japanese, Chinese, Portuguese...or ones that just name them something completely different like the Dutch. But what would you call people from the US? United Statesians? United Statesese? Statesish? That would be because the U.S. twisted it's meaning so that everyone thinks of the U.S. when the word American is uttered. But you really can't blame us because "United States" is neither a glamorous name nor does it roll off the tongue easily. So, when you come on down... Welcome to America. We will gladly take your money. In fact we rely on @JenniferS to make regular donations to help balance our budget. She might even get a medal from Congress.
We won't even mention that you cannot be welcomed to a place that you already reside in. We are that kind of big hearted people.
I'm just a nerd. Period.I wouldn't call myself a Disney nerd, Star Wars yes. I just liked that Mickey pic.
I hope you had a nice holiday, and delicious turkey meal. My favorite holiday. Blessing to you and your family @JenniferS. Just a little belated.Thank you. The turkey is in the oven, getting all happy, as I type.![]()
but..but.. bread makes you fat! D:I love bread and butter too! Any kind of bread, and real butter. That was one of the things I missed at AoA , they changed from having real butter available to smart blend. Those plant sterols are really bad for your joints. I was feeling the effects by the end of the trip. No more of that for me!
