What does your vet recommend?

If your dog has her own bed, pillow, or blanket, that she normally sleeps on, can you put a "puppy pad" on that at night?

The vet prescribed the Proin and checked for UTI (which was negative), plus no organ issues, so most likely it's old age. There are tons of other tests that can be done, but obviously at a cost and I suspect will be negative as well.

There's a bed made for incontinent dogs, so we may need to get one eventually: http://www.handicappedpets.com/sleepee-time-bed-for-incontinent-pets

Sympathy like. Believe me, I know how expensive vets can be, and if she's not in any pain and it's just part of the aging process, I wouldn't bother taking her back to the vet at this point. (I recall about a month ago we took our dog for some blood tests, etc. at the vet, and the bill was $500!! I nearly screamed when I saw the bill.) :jawdrop:

I like that bed in your link. That might be a reasonable solution for now and perhaps worth a try.

Yeah, I'm very conservative when it comes to vet visits. They can get a little test-happy.

The shaving balloons thing would make me nervous, I hate the sound of balloons popping. How did you blow up gummy bears? I do an experiment with my 7th graders in which they test what will happen to gummy bears in different liquids. They always want to eat them, so I have extras for eating so they don't eat the tested ones.

I didn't like the shaving balloons either. My teacher and another chem teacher did other things like Halloween and Christmas Chemistry "shows". As for exploding gummy bears, I don't know. Some type of chemical reaction.

Has anyone here had to deal with incontinence in an older dog? Our female dog has been on Proin for a while now, which worked until recently, and even though we've upped her dosage, she's still leaking quite a bit at night. I read that estrogen may help, so I just ordered a supplement, plus a hip/joint supplement as well. If these don't help, though, I'm guessing our next course of action are doggie diapers, which sounds humorous and sad at the same time.

Sorry to hear about your doggie's problems. I don't have any experience but I hope you find something to help soon.

Just had to share a little frustration....my brother-in-laws birthday is coming up and I have agonized over what to get him for awhile now. I finally decided to get him a Disney Cruiseline tee shirt since he is going on one next month. I also did some shopping for my niece and myself, when after I checked out I realized the tee shirt for bro in law wasn't on the order! I went back and they had magically sold out in his size! Ugh, but I got a different cruise shirt but it isn't as nice as the other. Oh well, it is done. On the other hand I got my niece some cute stuff for her birthday coming up. And maybe something nice for me too...:cautious:

That sort of reminds me of this..
I read it online with videos from a comedian on tumblr.com

http://www.motherjones.com/mojo/2015/10/alabama-dmv-closes-voter-id
http://www.worldstarhiphop.com/videos/video.php?v=wshhM3SCe94lNGkkfQa2

Then.. the new ones about women being unable to vote, because their marriage papers are not valid any more. and if they didn't have a valid birth certificate.. they cant have a photo id anymore.. no photo id.. no voting.

Cant comment much on this, because my country as a very funny yet sad culture about voting..
We have "muertos que votan( death who vote, literally dead people who somehow still have valid ids.. somehow vote for the "preselected candidate"), "Acarreados" (people who get pulled from other states, transported via buses, to vote elsewhere with a different id to skew and disbalance), Casillas rasuradas (where the voting polling stations shred the opposition voting papers) and the famous "urnas embarazadas"; Where duplicate voting bags are illegally filled with votes for "candidate who has to win at all costs" and the real bag is removed and burned..

:hilarious:

Giggle. Though not funny in reality. Chicago has a rich history of folks voting from the grave. You are not alone my friend.

Yes, the lobster rolls are extremely yummy there. Why no eclairs for you?

I'm not a fan of those custard-ie things. Actually I'm not a fan of Italian desserts from Tiramisu, custards to Gelato.

Now these lovely things From Via Napoli are the exception. And for those who care, the Olive Garden now has their own versions of these that genuinely rival Via Napoli's on their dessert menu.

Expecting a high of 50 today, and first freeze warnings for tonight. And where will I be? Last home football game, walking across the field with my senior, trying to not start crying. And after, trying to warm up in the band hall, and trying to keep it together during his senior speech. This senior year stuff is starting to get too real.

Oh I feel for ya. Senior year for my 2nd kid her senior year was hard, with 5 years to go from my DS to my DD it didn't impact me as much with DS with such a long way to go yet. I wept at her graduation like I did with my DS preschool graduation as they sang Wings beneath my feet. My DS skipped his college graduation to take a position at Disney, that was kinda a rough decision. We all made a pilgramage to my DD college graduation, 3 generations. She graduated with honors, cords and all in the rain and none of use cared. It was her day.

It is indeed a rough time for us parents to watch them move to adulthood. Hugs. Has a college been decided yet?
