After the boat tour, we went to the new church, where all the Dutch royals are buried. I didn't go up into the tower because there was no elevator and my hip was hurting, plus my doctor would have certainly said no to that one. But half of our group went up. Here's a picture from the top.niewe kerk delft tower view.jpgThere were some pretty cool memorials and whatnot. The bit of floor with the rope around it is the entrance to the crypt, but that's not accessible to the general public.DSCF4301.JPG Here's a view of the new church from the outside.DSCF4296.JPG

My dad was diagnosed with diabetes and rapid melonoma a year before my wedding. The chemo wasted him away (near the end he could only eat soup) but staying positive we said he had to stay alive to walk me down the aisle, the last daughter to get married. Which he did. Four months later I bought my house and after my dad inspected it he said "You don't need me anymore." Which I said that's crazy, you're my dad. A month later he died. Two months later (after years of me and my ex being told we'd never have kids) I got pregnant. I remember saying in the hospital birthing room I wish my dad was there.

Around one my daughter started talking to "someone" and was always fascinated with a picture of my dad. When she was two she was sitting on my bed and told me there was a man in the bathroom. :cyclops: (My ex had walked out on us way before this, wasn't him.) Then she'd tell me often the man was sitting beside us in my family room. Many, many nights for years she would be talking to "someone" in her room. Whenever something odd happens in our home (like the nightstand light itself turning off) we just chalk it up to Granpa. :joyfull:
I love your story, there are so many wonderful things that happen in life, we can't understand. My brother appeared at the end of my bed about a week after he died. He said "everything is fine." Made me feel so much better, as he passed at 44, much to young, from heart disease.

Sunday, we said goodbye to most of our group and my friend and I headed back to Utrecht where we had to split up, so we went to the Haar Castle before leaving. No pictures are allowed inside, so I stole a few from the website. rsz_kdh_grote_cour_5518_internet.jpg
And here was the Entrance Hall where guests were received.rsz_kopie_van_kdh_mainhall_a5296_internet.jpg
