I misspoke there. My first car was a 1960 Plymouth Station Wagon, three on the column, slant 6... a real power house. I didn't keep it very long because it used more oil then gas. My second was a VW Beetle. I enjoyed it but it was a challenge to drive in the wind or when you met trucks on the highway you had better be prepared to correct your steering. In the winter the windows were always frosted up with one heater vent that basically burnt a hole in your right leg while the rest of you froze. If there was a significant snowfall the flat metal bottom would just ride up on the snow like a sled and you would go no place.
The only real fun I ever had with it was when I had three other guys in the car after an evening of, let's just say, overindulging in certain beverages, I drove it out on a frozen Lake Champlain and cut a number of circles while listening to a very vocal group screaming for me to get off the ice before we hit a weak spot. Good times!

EDIT: My first new car was a 1970 Buick Skylark. I loved that car. Kept it for many years. I had it when I met my wife, used it on our honeymoon, took both my kids home after they were born and many other early experiences. I thought about having it bronzed and put on the mantle as a family keepsake. It got to old to be dependable though and with two little kids and living in the country, I decided to trade it in. It had 110,000 miles on it and although that is nothing now, back then it was way past it's life expectancy.
