For character breakfast, we really enjoyed Crystal Palace and 1900 Park Fare. I think food was a little better at CP, but I really liked the character interaction at 1900 (Mad Hatter is a hoot and Alice and Mary Poppins are also very good). Next trip I'd want to do dinner at 1900, though, for the step mother and sisters. I thought Tusker House was just OK in terms of food, but character interaction was great - we had a late morning ADR and it was pretty empty so the characters came around more than once.

If you're interested in a princess meal, I'd definitely do Akershus.

For non-character dinner, my suggestions are Be Our Guest (although you do get to meet the Beast), Biergarten, Captain's Grille, Coral Reef (ask for a table next to the aquarium), Kona Cafe, and Sanaa.

If you plan to see Fantasmic!, I'd recommend booking the dinner package. We chose Hollywood & Vine and I thought it was pretty good, although none of the desserts appealed to me. But the seats for the show were great.

If you can do a signature restaurant, I very highly recommend California Grill as well. Best dining experience of our last trip. If I could eat there every night, I would!
They just changed the menu at Akershus, it's not a buffet anymore and they didn't lower the price. The appetizers are all you care to eat and the an entre followed by a desert plate.

A very happy birthday to you! And aren't you lucky that your birthday falls on a holiday weekend--twice the fun!

I had to laugh over your comment about turning 30 and not being able to do some things as well as you could years ago. Wait until you add another 10, 20, 30 or 40 years to your current 30--it's all downhill! ;)
Speak for yourself! I'm a smidge over 30, had both knees scoped (one multiple times), Dislocated a shoulder, broke both an ankle (twice) and a wrist and a few more assorted injuries back when and I lift 3 days a week and do at least 5 miles 5 days a week. It doesn't have to be all downhill.

What breakfast buffets did you dine at? We've done them all in park and resort and they've all had more than just that.
whats what I seen in most Disney resort restaurants.
Of course.. snacks do not count. I mean the default platters.. even the DCL had these as default.
Of course, you had the omelette station and fruit station.

Our original flight was supposed to be in Fredericksburg over the Memorial Day holiday, but, that's when we had all the rain and devastating floods. It was moved to Kerrville instead because of an air show in Fredericksburg this weekend.
Anyway, after the flight we headed to Fredericksburg to get some lunch and piddle around...

We didn't do the National Museum of the Pacific War this time (Fredericksburg is Admiral Chester W. Nimitz' hometown), but,
we did stop into the gift shop and walk by the old Nimitz Hotel (now part of the museum)... :)

Have you ever been to the Air and Space Annex outside of DC, it seems like it would be your cup of tea.

While I was too old for Sesame Street it was ground breaking for Children's TV. Prior to that it was mostly old men entertaining small children. Sesame Street went at it a whole different way. As time went on it only got better minus the duds. My kids had very different taste in TV programming. My DS liked to be entertained while my DD liked the shows that taught something after she got over the annoying purple Dinosaur.

Funny, I really hated Barney and I tried to limit her viewing of Barney shows and VHS tapes to keep my own sanity. My Mom was annoyed with that. She left my house and came back with a small TV with a built in VHS player for my 2 year olds room so she could watch Barney anytime she wanted to. Oddly I think I was 16 years old before I had a TV in my room at my folks home.
Barney really scared the hell outta me.
he looked unkillable.. almost like fredy kruger.
That special of Animaniacs didnt help D:

another kids shows that gives me the creeps was teletubbies.
