Yes, I sent it to my aunt as it got the woman off my back. I figured if she went to the trouble to annoy my aunt to track me down on another continent, I'd just give it to her so no one else had to suffer.

That was in nice of you? Did you give her the real recipe? I read shook once about a group of women in the south and when they shared recipes they changed it slightly so when the other person made it the food wouldn't be as good as the original cooks. I always think that is a little devious! Our church is putting together a church cookbook right now and I hope no one does that with their recipes! :)

I know what you mean. I got that same phone call for my mom. The neighbor called and said if I wanted to see her, I needed to go. So I did. My mom's last meal was blueberry pie...it was the only thing that sounded good to her. She hadn't eaten more than a bite or two of anything in several days. My husband went to every place that sold food in our tiny town to find blueberry pie for her and she ate a whole small slice. The next day we ended up taking her to hospice so she could get pain meds and she slipped into a coma and passed the morning of July 4th...still a bittersweet holiday for me, but it's not celebrated over here, so I don't have the constant reminder, and as the neighbor said, she was freed on independence day. My friend from Iran says in her culture, they believe that someone who is born or dies on a holiday is so special that their birth or passing needed something extra to mark it. My dad is 82, so I probably don't have much time left with him and that's why we're heading out next year.

Sympathy like for your mom. :(
My pop is also 82, and mom is 76.
They're still both very active and healthy, but, you just never know when that will change.
Heck, I don't know when it will change with me... :cyclops:

I never even THOUGHT to change it. So yes, I gave her the real one. I am not very good at deception. Our church also used to do a cookbook, and my mom thought it was hilarious that someone else had the exact same poppyseed bread recipe as she did that everyone wanted, and it was in the cookbook, but no one knew it. So everyone had access to it the whole time and didn't know it, and my mom would make batches of the stuff at Christmas and give a loaf to each of our friends, who would then hide it from their husbands and children so they didn't have to share. And the whole time, they could have made it themselves. (the secret is in the glaze...orange instead of lemon)

Yes, and my dad had a series of mini-strokes last year...I don't know how many as he refused to go to the doctor. Then he had one in the bank and the bank ladies called an ambulance so he was FORCED to go to the doctor. He lives alone in the middle of nowhere and I worry about him a lot.

So my hammock of about 4 years ripped the other day to the point I was afraid it was unsafe so hubby ordered me new one with next day delivery. Even though it is cloudy I'm trying to enjoy it. It has a different fit than my old one. I guess the dog and I will just have to adjust.

Looks comfy!! Maybe you just need to break it in! Nice hubby to order a new one!
