I remember the day my best friend in junior high invited me over to play his new Pong game.
No joke, he went on to become a graphic artist and video game designer. :)
I'm one of the few (if not the only person) in my grade that collects retro games and everyone I mention this to looks at me funny. They're too obsessed with their current generation Xboxes and Playstations to pay any attention to the oldies.

I really enjoyed all your pictures!! What a great place with so many cool things to see and experience down there. The sand dollars are a unique sight. And, oddly enough, I have always liked those car ferries. (I've been on one from Lake Champlain, Vermont, to Plattsburgh, NY.)

Your dad is so much fun! I like the ocean, too (although haven't actually been there in recent years), but when I was a kid, my mother used to call me a fish--I never wanted to get out of the ocean!! Hope you, also, got a chance to play in the surf. :) And, thanks for sharing all the pictures. We like pictures of all vacations here!!

Thanks, Minnie! :)

We love the ferry, too! :)
Unfortunately, sometimes, depending on the time of year and day of the week, the wait for the ferry, to or from the island, can be outrageously long.
On the way down a coupla' weeks ago, my folks actually (on a Saturday) detoured south through Corpus Christi because the wait for the ferry was 2 hours  (there are electronic signs on the highways, or you can pull it up on your phone).
For us (DS and myself on Wednesday mid-day) the wait was only about 15 min.
When we were leaving Saturday mid-day, we pretty much got right on, but, for those waiting to get on the island from the ferry it was another 2 hr. wait.

Anyway, the ferry is definitely a fun part of the trip (except for that DME-ish feeling you get when leaving the island for the trip home ;)).
We get out of the car and smell the fresh, salty sea air. Ahhhhh...
Although we didn't see any this trip, many times there are porpoise swimming and jumping alongside the ferries.

This is gonna' be a really horrible pic 'cause I took it with my iPhone and zoomed, but, here's a shot from a few years ago of a porpoise jumping in front of a ship on the ship channel side of town... :)

Right foot, toe next to pinkie. :( I guess next time I will open my eyes when walking to the bathroom at night. :joyfull: At the time I just cussed up a blue storm and went back to bed. When I woke up that morning I had a thumb-sized toe. :grumpy: And you are SOOOO right about 2016.

Oy. Poor you. I broke my big toe once years ago, fortunately it was summer and at least I could wear flip flops.
