Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR

Yeah, we got walloped like this back in 2011, the drifts were up to the roof lines of the first story homes. Then cold and stillness. Took DH and me an entire day to dig out. We could open the back door about a foot, just enough to let bewildered Walt out and he ducked under the picnic table. Eventually I plowed him walkways and a small flat area. Unlike last year there was a thaw that melted about half about 2 weeks later.

A local had a heart attack during that storm and the fire trucks couldn't find the road to get him to the hospital so they followed a plow the entire way to the hospital. He lived. Plow driver said all he had to go by were light posts knowing how far they were from curbs.

Seriously, we don't do it. I don't know anyone who does.
Even in my boys' grade school, every child had to have one pair of outdoor shoes (or boots), and another pair of shoes or slippers for indoors.

Well do it! Put a pair of indoor shoes and stop break'n them feet.

Hubby and I do a 48-hour getaway to Buffalo twice a year.
Once in May, for our anniversary.
And once, the week after Black Friday, for Christmas shopping.

About five years ago, during one of our Christmas shopping trips, we went to bed one night with nary a flake in sight, only to wake up to 20+ inches the next morning. We had to mount a 5' snowbank to get to the Denny's next door for brekkie.
And then we went boot shopping.
When we arrived home the next evening, there was zero snow. Less than 70 minutes away.

Buffalo gets hit bad with lake effect snow. Looks like real snow. Feels like real snow. Paralyzes the city like real snow. But according to meteorologists, it's only "lake effect".

Our friend drives a plow for The City of Buffalo. They do an amazing job considering the amounts that fall over and over again.
