I have a Vietnam vet that is 3 properties down and disabled from the war in mind and in sight. He left as a Pro football player and came back like this. Makes me sad. My Dad did Occupied Japan and then was recalled to go to Korea. He said too there was no fan fair for them either. He went on a ship to Hawaii and then in some transport plane to Cali. He had to hitchhike back to Chicago.
Acknowledgement like. Hopefully your father got some recognition since then. My father does which is nice.

Dogs generally bond a bit more with one family member over another. Doesn't mean that they can't love more than one family member though. I think if my dog had to choose, he'd probably pick hubby, but I'd like to think I'd be a close second!

I have no doubt whatsoever that Walter loves you! :)
Cats do the same thing. The first two cats loved my mom most. That made sense. The original tuxedo, Mischief, was her first cat and was older than me. He loved my dad also, and he slept with me from the time that I was a baby, but Mom was always #1. He was such a cool cat; he basically liked everyone, thought that he owned the house and allowed us to live there, and that everyone was there to see him. Our second cat, Moxie, was a tabby. We got him when I was 3. He was a great cat, very tolerant of a three year old that picked him up and carried him around. He was more skittish, but he loved me and my mom, though Mischief was his buddy. He got really depressed after Mischief died. Unfortunately, we lost Moxie three years later to kidney failure. He was only 10, poor guy. He and Mischief both would sleep with me, Mischief usually up with me and Moxie at my feet. After Mischief died, Moxie usually would start out up with me and then move to the end of the bed.

Belle, who is my current cat and my avatar, loves my mom, but I am definitely #1. And she doesn't quietly favor me the way Mischief, and to some degree, Moxie, always favored my mom. When I get home, if she's been on my mom's lap, she'll jump off and come to me. A lot of times, she'll have been off sleeping someplace, but comes to greet me at the door. Most of the time, I usually find her asleep on my bed. She also sleeps with me, and she'll complain if I'm not home at my usual time. When she was sick once with a UTI, she wouldn't let anyone but me anywhere near her. She doesn't react well to vaccinations, so she'll usually hide under my bed and will only come out to me if the door is shut and I coax her out with treats. My mom tried the same thing, but Belle refused to come out. She also was depressed when I was at WDW in January, but was fine when my parents were gone. We're thinking I will probably take her with me whenever I move out.

For future reference, there are TKTS Discount Booths in the city (Times Square has one). They offer reduced pricing on "day of" shows.

That must have been fun going to the Top of the Rock (I've never been there).

I have, however, been to the top of the (original) World Trade Center, and had dinner at the (then famous) Windows to the World. Food was great and the view was panoramic--New York City at night all lit up. I was also staying at the Marriott World Trade Center hotel, in that complex. That was 2 1/2 weeks prior to 9/11/2001. (I still get chills when I think about the timing of all that . . .)

All this NYC talk is bringin' back memories... :)
The '87 and '89 trips were with DWifey. On the Dec. '87 trip was the WTC, Empire State Building (I had done these on my '81 trip), the tree at Rockefeller Center, Trump Tower, etc.. He lived on 75th and Amsterdam with two other roomies, and they all worked at IBM in midtown, I think it was. So much fun!
The '89 trip for the marathon was a hoot, too. We all went to an Italian restaurant in White Plains (where him and his new roomies were livin' at the time) the night before the race, so those guys could carbo-load on ziti.
We watched most of the race on TV with a group of friends from a TGI Fridays along the race route, but, I did go out to take some video as the leader (and eventual race winner) came by. They all had very respectable times and we met them at the finish in central park. That night, we all ate out at a Chinese restaurant in Yonkers.
Again, darn good times...!!! :joyfull: :)

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
Yea, I don't have a problem with folks on the internet knowing my first name, or what city I live in. Steve from Austin, Texas is pretty general. And, if from those two clues, anyone wants to try and hunt my sorry rear down, good luck, and you've got WAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY to much flippin' time on your hands and need to get a life. :D ;) :)

Although, there are a few pics of me and the fam, 'round here, too... :cautious:

;)
Yeah, I think there may be a pic or two of me floating about too. :hilarious:

Some years when I come to Disney, there are a lot of things I'd like to buy, but funds are tight.
Other years, I have the $$, but nothing catches my fancy.
This year however, has been the perfect storm, a confluence of cash and desire.

Now, I just have to figure out how to get $2500 worth of stuff home! Thankfully, $600 + of it is jewelery/Pandora charms.
And, we still have 24 snack credits worth of carp to pick up tomorrow.

I doubt any of you feel sorry for me.

And DS is in my avatar... Hmmmm. I'm not very good at the "no one will know me on the Internet" thing. :p
