I'm having issues with the sight tonight. Some of the posts are missing in the mist. I see them only when others quote them. :banghead:

Yep, it is so hard. On my nightstand is a picture of my first Pup, my shepard and my DH who in that photo is younger than my son is now. Still miss her. She was my Dog. The springer picked my DH, the 1st golden was my DDs Pup, 2nd Golden was MY Pup and Walter gave his heart to DS and that kid never lived with the Pup more than a few months at a time though they do have like personalities. He comes home and the rest of us are dirt.

Dogs generally bond a bit more with one family member over another. Doesn't mean that they can't love more than one family member though. I think if my dog had to choose, he'd probably pick hubby, but I'd like to think I'd be a close second!

I have no doubt whatsoever that Walter loves you! :)

I remember those days, too. I guess I'm just so detached from those old ways of thinking now, especially working in a healthcare environment. We go out of our way to accommodate all different types of disabilities.

You would likely love to visit my DD University. While all dorms are accessible they built a dorm that is totally geared to students with disabilities. While they have the choice whether to live there or not the building is so cool top to bottom. Elevators that are designed with accessibility, even voice activated for those with sight issues. Cafe is designed to accommodate wheelchairs, the showers and toilet areas have roll in ability and are configured many ways. The dorm rooms have space for wheelchairs to move freely, beds at proper height and the dressers and closets configured in a way that students can actually use them. With the campus being so vast they have a bus system to reach your classes and they are a step above Disney's and the students just roll right on. Before I knew about the accessibility for students at her University I was surprised at the amount of students with disabilities until I knew they were #1 in accessibility.

But what you will likely be most impressed with is the amount of service dogs and they even have a club that trains service dogs on campus. They live with different students, go to classes, into cafe's while being trained. It is so funny when they are small pups being trained and they misbehave (pups being pups.)

The National anthem was beautiful for the Carolina/ Philadelphia game. I love how our military is being honored. I felt bad for my father and his fellow veterans from the Vietnam era. Looks like we are making up for lost time.

I have a Vietnam vet that is 3 properties down and disabled from the war in mind and in sight. He left as a Pro football player and came back like this. Makes me sad. My Dad did Occupied Japan and then was recalled to go to Korea. He said too there was no fan fair for them either. He went on a ship to Hawaii and then in some transport plane to Cali. He had to hitchhike back to Chicago.

Wow. I love all of this! If I was college aged again, this is exactly where I'd want to go! (I don't have any disabilities, but I like how forward-thinking this college is, with regard to their approach to disabled students.) My favorite thing is the on-campus club for students that trains the dogs!

I was never a Friends fan. I liked Seinfeld during that era. I mean I still watched Friends since it was my ex husband's favorite show. o_O

I've seen both in syndication a few times, but, never saw a full episode of either during their regular runs.
But, then again, I really haven't watched much series-type TV in many years.

Question: What is the the difference in a twice a year vs the mega dose they give seniors?
It's basically a shot that's about 4 times stronger than the regular flu shot. They don't know what kind of reaction I'd have to that. Since they know that I don't have a bad reaction at all to the regular flu shot, they want to stick with that. It would also cost more, while getting two flu shots in a season costs absolutely nothing.

Basically, getting two flu shots ensures that I'm covered for the ENTIRE flu season, not just when it peaks, as is the case for most people, and since I know that I can have that one with no adverse reaction, that's the one I get.

I have to be really careful with vaccines in general after going into anaphylaxis after a vaccination when I was getting my shots for college. Essentially, I can get one at a time, I have to be skin tested beforehand, and I only get vaccines that are absolutely necessary. I actually have an exemption from some of my college vaccines because my doctor said absolutely no more vaccines other than the flu shot for that year. For flu, we don't worry about the whole skin testing thing since I get it every year, but the pharmacy has me wait around for 20 minutes just to be safe. Since I get my shot at Rite Aid, this usually results in me wandering around and then eventually spending more than I intended to on makeup, nail polish, and sometimes candy.

Reading stories like the above will make me pause and give thanks tomorrow, to all who served. (The story about the soldier who ended up hitch-hiking back to Chicago, was a tough one to read.)

A nice gesture by some local Boston businesses was that they bought some tickets to big sporting events, starting with the Bruins (hockey) tonight, and donated them to servicemen (and women), as a way to acknowledge them for Veterans Day.

I really like the idea of treating the soldiers and vets to something special, as it should be.

Now that be funny Jee-Anne!
I didn't know I was supposed to use a nom de plume when I signed up, so I blew my anonymity on Day 1.

Yea, I don't have a problem with folks on the internet knowing my first name, or what city I live in. Steve from Austin, Texas is pretty general. And, if from those two clues, anyone wants to try and hunt my sorry rear down, good luck, and you've got WAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY to much flippin' time on your hands and need to get a life. :D ;) :)

Although, there are a few pics of me and the fam, 'round here, too... :cautious:

Yes he does but I am not his 'people' I am his alpha. He knows I feed, him walk him, bathe him, give him meds, take his to the prairie to walk him, take care of him when he is ill. I am the one he knows he must listen to. All I have to do most times is look at him straight in the eye and he will sit without command to. The 100# of Pup would sit in my lap (literally) when the kids would leave with their luggage and head back to school, he came for comfort. So yeah he loves me but in a different way than he loves the others.

Yikes! Teletubbies are creepity. I was blessed that my DD was long past that level of entertainment by the time they came about.

She loved Arthur, Molly & the Comfy Couch, Franklin.

But it is Sesame Streets 45th Anniversary now and my DD wore her adorable Bert Hat in honor of them today.

Yep, we too, thankfully, missed Telecreepies.

Love the hat! :)

I can still watch Arthur and Franklin in a pinch. Sans kids.
