We're on a roll this year with 5 power outages so far this year. All during snow events. 1 strictly weather related, 3 people who couldn't drive in snow and 2 drunk idiots out in snow.
Driving hazards - friends family know the feeling. All it takes is one to crash into a utility pole and the neighborhood loses power but the whole house Generac generator saves the day. $12K well spent. We run a extension cord line to our adjacent 90/87 year old neighbor so they can power their fridge, cell phone and lamp.

I just saw something about the average price (yes, average) of a pizza in NYC being $33.65…what the hell…?!?!?!?!?! 🤪
Nothing surprises me with price of food considering how food in general is more expensive.

That being said, I remembered hearing on the news over a decade ago that one place sold a hot dog for $100.00 and it somehow sold out.

Yea, everything is still sky high.
Heck, the cheapest gas we can find around here is still $2.84 a gallon.
Not all that long ago it was well under $2.

I suspect it helps that you are floating on top of a whole lot of oil. Didn't you once tell us that your family property has oil wells on it, like a man named Jed, who loaded up his truck and moved to Beverly? People need to understand that MOST of the cost of oil is from state and local taxes. Let's blame the right people.

Yea, I just looked up current gas prices in both CA and HI. HI is a little less, but, both average prices are still about $2 more than we are.
Just crazy.
I was absolutely shocked when Hawaii was less than CA. It's their taxes driving up their prices.

I think when I filled up my mom's car last week it was $3.25. And of course she drives an SUV and I drive a Civic, and my car only has a 12 gallon tank, so I about fainted when I saw how much the bill was. 😂

I wasn’t assigning blame to any body, one way or the other, but, yes, we still have oil wells in the family.
My grandparents on Moms side actually owned 2 farms. When they passed, the siblings sold both, but, negotiated to keep the mineral rights to the smaller farm, and there is a well there.
My Pop is now the sole owner of his family farm, as both my uncles (one older, one younger) have passed in the last year, and there is a well there, too.
There’s also another spot on the back of the property where there has been talk about drilling another well.
We’ll see, but, we’re certainly not Clampett-moving to Beverly Hills anytime soon…!!!!! :hilarious:

Sorry, I should have separated that particular statement from the rest. That was for the others that still blame the wrong people for the cost of gasoline. Think of the power one person would have if they had complete control over the price of oil.

I'm sure you know I was just kidding with you about the bubbling crude.

Of course I knew that…no worries…and I actually got a good chuckle from the Jed Clampett reference…!!!!! 😅
