I went to sleep pretty early last night, and have been up since about 2:30a. Just can’t seem to doze off again.
For some reason, I felt like goin’ back through old TRs, and I noticed how many aren’t even here anymore, and haven’t been “seen” for years.
I’ve been here since 2012, and these were previously prolific posters…I sometimes just wonder…?! 🤔
Yea, I’ve noticed some of that, too.
But, many just disappear from here.
Maybe they just go to tik book, or face tok, or whatever…!!!!! :hilarious:;)
But, there are also many that you can tell are just plain gone.
Not losing sleep over it, by any means, but, just something I noticed going back.

I, too, have noticed the absence of many forum friends who used to be regular posters. Clicking on profiles reveals their “last seen” date (if that feature was enabled) and the majority seem to have left just pre- or early-pandemic.

Not to be crass, but Covid-19 killed more than people. It killed hopes and dreams and the trajectory of lives. Disney used the pandemic to accelerate cost-cutting measures (where they were headed anyway) in order to increase short-term profit. Questionable management decisions made the parks more expensive, more complicated to visit and a whole lot less enjoyable for everyone - but especially for those who loved the “old Disney” and joined/participated in fan forums such as this.

Many were here to share tips or get advice for upcoming vacations. Their excitement was genuine and this site was a welcoming place. It felt good to be in the company of others who shared a similar love of WDW.

Now? Doom and gloom, naysayers, and armchair quarterbacks critical of every decision Disney makes dominates this site. Yes, Disney brought a lot of it onto themselves and in so doing, killed either the ability or desire of former WDW lovers to visit their theme parks.

I understand why those former members left. If they stopped going to the parks and have no plans to return, what’s the point of spending time on a WDW fan site?

I’m actually surprised at the number who’ve stayed.

Yea, I also noticed that timeline, as well.
I was reading one from a no-longer-active member (last seen in Oct. of ‘19) early this morning, back from’18…so much has changed since then, indeed.
I’m 61+ now, and I’ve seen a lot of stuff over my years, but, yes, things are a bit different now
In the world (both at WDW and in the real world ;)), though much seems to also stay the same.
We don’t even go all that often, but, since we had such a memorably great time on our trip in October for Emmy’s 5th birthday and Matt’s 31st birthday, we already booked another trip for Audrey’s 3rd birthday in June…!!!!! :inlove::happy:
We go on…!!! ;):)

Yes.
When my team doesn’t end up in the big game, I can still find a reason to root for one or the other.
I haven't watched the Super Bowl in years. Normally I'm in WDW or coming home from WDW when it happens, so I'm off doing other stuff. I got tired of New England being in it year after year after year and now it seems like KC is becoming the new NE. I especially wasn't happy with the way Mahomes and Kelce treated Tucker at the AFC championship game. And not just because I'm a Ravens fan; veteran players deserve to be treated with more respect, especially on their home field.

If I had to choose, I'd go for the 49ers, but I really would have rather seen the Lions make it. I don't plan on watching, though. I've got stuff to do around the house before my parents get home tomorrow night. Two pieces of IKEA furniture still need to be put together. 🤣

Me too!!!
I am most definitely a baseball girl at heart. I like football, but football is pretty much just a stopgap to get me through until baseball. I was completely uninterested when football season started and the Orioles were doing so well. 😂 I got more interested when baseball ended and I was like "Oh, Ravens are doing well? Cool!" If the Ravens have a poor season, though, I completely lose interest.

And now that the Orioles have new ownership and had such a great season last season, I can't say I've ever been more excited for the start of a baseball season. End of next month is opening day! ⚾

I’m not at all familiar with the Mahomes/Kelce/Tucker thing, but, regarding the fam returning home tomorrow night…

I’m not at all familiar with the Mahomes/Kelce/Tucker thing,
Basically, Tucker was doing his usual pregame routine at the end of the field, and Mahomes and Kelce came over, picked up his stuff, threw it, and told him "Get this crap out of here!" Tucker hasn't really said anything besides that he was doing his usual pregame warm up that he's done all of these years. Mahomes and Kelce have been running their mouths on the media, saying that he was trying to get under their skin before the game, he wasn't where he was supposed to be, blah blah blah. The only people who seem to be on their side are KC fans. Everyone else is like "the heck? Why was that necessary?" Tucker is known for being an extremely nice guy; it was completely uncalled for. Even the people I know who are Steelers fans are on his side on this one.

but, regarding the fam returning home tomorrow night…

I need them to come home. Dad usually takes out the paper recycling. I don't like taking out the paper recycling and want him to come home and do it for me. I've ordered too much stuff and now I'm buried in paper recycling. I don't even have a full bag of trash, but the paper recycling man...🤣
