It has been 25 years since the fall of the Berlin wall and pieces of the wall were selling for thousands of the dollars. Now being sold on eBaby for around $13. Only the very large pieces with graffiti on them are selling for $10,000 or more, the rest is just rock.

So NYC was interesting. We took my brother who has never been, for his birthday which was in Feb. It's ironic I've been to NYC more for fun than Boston. Being there for about nine hours, we only saw 9/11, Times Square, 5th Ave and Rockefeller. My uncle drove in from Jersey so he took us to lunch in Greenwich Village, which we were not expecting, but it was nice seeing the city most tourists do not see. His favorite restaurant in NYC but it wasn't that great to us. I wanted to go to an Irish pub near Times Square. But he paid so no complaining. I go a screwdriver, vodka and OJ = yum.

The main 9/11 building is open for business and is not 1776 feet. Only that tall with the antenna on top. The two pools are amazing and there is a tree that survived that is in the plaza. Interesting how thousands of people at the memorial and the mood is sober. Even kids who were not even born yet. Three buildings are finished with two more to come and a transportation center.

Times Square was horrible...I didn't really want to go but my brother wanted to see it for it was his first time. Way too many people even in the huge stores such as M + M and ToysRUs. Disney Store is wicked small and geared to kiddies. The Naked Cowboy is still their in his underwear (had to be freezing) and they have rip-off characters posing for pictures which Disney, Nintendo and whoever owns Hello Kitty could easily stop but it goes on. And then they ask for tips. Too many people taking advantage of people. 9/11, Times Square, homeless people. Which, walking 5th Ave at night, there was a homeless person doing weed while asking for money.

My brother loves the Today show so we had to see that which was interesting how it's set up. The tree had arrived. I love old churches but St. Patrick's Cathedral and Trinity Church were being worked on so I didn't take pictures. Never been inside St. Patrick's until the other day. Mass was going on. Radio City Music Hall started their Christmas show.

And then we unfortunately had to go home. Train was packed on the way to NY. UCONN football was playing at Yankee Stadium. On the way home from the train station, 95 went down from three lanes to zero in New Haven and the only open space was the breakdown lane. Never saw that before. Course it was 11 at night. I took pics but I had a lot from previous trips already so I didn't take that many.

That is unfair, insensitive, and unacceptable, that there is no equipment to assist the deaf in your country. I'm really surprised that your government doesn't have more protections in place for people living with hearing impairments.

It is funny when we finally evolved that we believe everyone else should be where we are. I remember during my childhood there was not phone assistance for those with hearing issues, there was not handicapped parking, most buildings were not wheelchair accessible, hotel rooms did not have wheelchair accessible rooms let alone anyway to know someone was at the door or notification of fire.

When I was in elementary school, children with learning differences, physical disabilities, hearing and sight issues, you name the difference and those students were in that classroom. Oh yeah, and the age range was from 4-10 years all lumped together with their uncommon. The harsh names in my early life I heard that room referred to. In reality for many countries it takes decades for the new views and tech to hit many countries.

You're a nice Mom.

My kids have had TVs in their rooms since they were preschoolers. My DD got hers just before she was 2 years old with a built in VHS player (DVDs were not the thing in her childhood)

My Mom was over and my DD had been going through all of her Barney tapes and that dinosaur really worked on my last nerve. When she wanted yet another Barney tape I told her Mommy could not listen to Barney any more and to pick something else out. (mind you Barney was always background she was always crafting or building something, her hands were always busy from the time she could coordinate them) Well my Mom caught the sadness in the little tykes face and was so mad at me as if I slugged her or something. Geez. She said she'd be right back and walked out the door and came back with a TV with a VHS for her room. I was spared Barney from then on.

One of my first jobs was working in the kids room at a gym. They all wanted to watch Barney, all the time. The kids would rotate in and out, but I would be there for hours. It was horrible because we would watch the same ones over and over and over. I love you, you love me - ahhhhhhhhh!:arghh::bawling::jawdrop::in pain::mad:

Needless to say, Barney was banned from our house. DS has only watched it elsewhere.

I'm a teacher. I teach 7-9 grade science. I only live a block from school so my commute isn't tough. That also means I get to sleep in a little extra everyday since I don't have to drive! ;)

One of our principals moved from about 10 miles away to within 1 1/2 blocks of his middle school. He finally put up a security video system around his house for the amount of times his house was egg'd etc.

Well it is snowing today where I live. I was getting reading for work and as I stepped out of the shower the phone rang and school was cancelled for the day. So I get to spend today snuggling with the dogs. I think I'm going to make chicken wild rice soup.

Wow! First school closing due to snow that I've seen this season. Enjoy the day off!

Is it because of the predicted snow and being able to get the buses and students back home?

Awe, that is sweet. Most Chloe's that I have encountered of the canine variety are Basset Hounds, love them.

I have always had a rough time when my Pups pass on but never as bad as my my first, my Shepard, she was like my first born. I picked my preschooler up from Day Care and told him when we got home, thought I was composed but he got to see his Mommy loose it for the first time. When my DH called to say he was heading home (pre texting days) DS answered and said Daddy Tuffy died today, then to me Daddy wants to talk to you and handed the phone over. Bet DH wished he had thought that request through......:(
It's like I say...we never really get over losing them, we just learn to live without them.

We are predicted to have about 10 inches so they probably called it off with concerns off getting the kids home. It was snowing hard when they called it off. I just got in from shoveling and it isn't snowing any more just some really light drizzle. I think we probably could have at least gone for a half day but I've been getting a lot done here at home so that is okay.

Supposed to be a high of 57 here today with the possibility of 60s tomorrow!! YIPPIE!!:D:D
I was going out to my car this morning and thought, "Wow, it's warm!" Got in my car, and it was 55 degrees. In my book, that is NOT warm. Right now, it's 65. Tomorrow it should be 65, then it will cool down later this week. But no snow in the forecast (so far)

Practice for Christmas musicals at school? That just brought back so many BAD BAD memories. I had to play the piano for all of them...I think that's why I dislike musicals, broadway, show tunes, child singers, etc...

My daughter's class is singing without music. Then there's my niece who is in competition choir, swing band and concert band. Three different shows to go to.

We were not spared Barney. Barney was big stuff in our house. But, so were a lot of other shows and movies. :)
