So NYC was interesting. We took my brother who has never been, for his birthday which was in Feb. It's ironic I've been to NYC more for fun than Boston. Being there for about nine hours, we only saw 9/11, Times Square, 5th Ave and Rockefeller. My uncle drove in from Jersey so he took us to lunch in Greenwich Village, which we were not expecting, but it was nice seeing the city most tourists do not see. His favorite restaurant in NYC but it wasn't that great to us. I wanted to go to an Irish pub near Times Square. But he paid so no complaining. I go a screwdriver, vodka and OJ = yum.

The main 9/11 building is open for business and is not 1776 feet. Only that tall with the antenna on top. The two pools are amazing and there is a tree that survived that is in the plaza. Interesting how thousands of people at the memorial and the mood is sober. Even kids who were not even born yet. Three buildings are finished with two more to come and a transportation center.

Times Square was horrible...I didn't really want to go but my brother wanted to see it for it was his first time. Way too many people even in the huge stores such as M + M and ToysRUs. Disney Store is wicked small and geared to kiddies. The Naked Cowboy is still their in his underwear (had to be freezing) and they have rip-off characters posing for pictures which Disney, Nintendo and whoever owns Hello Kitty could easily stop but it goes on. And then they ask for tips. Too many people taking advantage of people. 9/11, Times Square, homeless people. Which, walking 5th Ave at night, there was a homeless person doing weed while asking for money.

My brother loves the Today show so we had to see that which was interesting how it's set up. The tree had arrived. I love old churches but St. Patrick's Cathedral and Trinity Church were being worked on so I didn't take pictures. Never been inside St. Patrick's until the other day. Mass was going on. Radio City Music Hall started their Christmas show.

And then we unfortunately had to go home. Train was packed on the way to NY. UCONN football was playing at Yankee Stadium. On the way home from the train station, 95 went down from three lanes to zero in New Haven and the only open space was the breakdown lane. Never saw that before. Course it was 11 at night. I took pics but I had a lot from previous trips already so I didn't take that many.

I've been to NYC three times, but have not been back since '89. An old buddy of mine lives up that way.
First time was in summer of '81. My buddy and some of his buddies from up there had a house on the Jersey Shore at Seaside heights, of all places, as well. That was one crazy time.
Second was in '87 with DWifey to visit him and those guys again in December. Fun stuff during Christmas in NYC.
Third time, in November of '89, we went to Fort Dix in Jersey to see my BIL graduate from basic training, and then also went to see my buddy and his 2 room mates run the NYC Marathon.
Good Times. Would like to get back, sometime soon. :)

That is unfair, insensitive, and unacceptable, that there is no equipment to assist the deaf in your country. I'm really surprised that your government doesn't have more protections in place for people living with hearing impairments.
Well, if you seen the news.. the government is more busy leeching money and killing protesters and burning them than to actually care about the general population :>

So, last night's "crime of opportunity" for my dog, happened swiftly and without remorse from him (as usual).

I was frying a ham slice that was just about done. I put some mustard on the side of the dinner plate on the table. Realized it was time for the evening news, so I took the 6 steps or so over to the livingroom and changed the channel on the remote. Came back to the kitchen and saw him licking his chops, and he bolted out of the room. I looked over to the frying pan--ham still cooking (safe). Then, I happened to look over to the plate on the table: that varmint had licked off all the mustard on the plate!!! What animal wolfs down mustard?!! :banghead:

No high jinx at my house yet!

You seem much nicer than the principal at our middle school. He is a very ticky tack petty tyrant in a district that doesn't have issues.

He called the police on a boy my sons age that in PE class was accidently knock down during basketball and being a cool kid he was embarrassed and angry. Hopped to his feet he ran down the court and yelled to the kid I'm going to kill ya. PE teacher sent him to principal to cool off.

Police were called for murder threat and charged with multiple things including Mob Action. 11 years old, likely did even know what a mob was. (that Sheriff, equally as nutty and bored because nothing much happens here) pressed on and the boys Mom on our school board had to hire an attorney. They went to court and the judge listened to the prosecuting attorney and then flipped out at the Sheriff, prosecutor and principal for wasting the courts time with trumped up problems, threw the case out and suggest the three governmental bodies refund the parents the cost of their attorney. lol So yeah eggs are no big surprise with this Dufus.

We're actually attempting to start a fire in our fireplace after not having done one in about 12 years!! Just never think to use it.

I think hubby knows that I've reached my breaking point with the cold, and if he doesn't figure out some warmth, I may be heading south with or without him! ;). (I would need some of that paycheck though...)
We love our fireplace. It's one of the bigger ones so it heat the whole house.

I'm in that boat. My name is spelled the boys version and for whatever reason peeps, especially women are not accepting of that. It often triggers a debate like I am deliberately leaving letters off or them wanting to know why it is spelled that way. I generally just say yes and let them spell it any way they want unless it genuinely matters.

One time a lady became pretty snarky about the spelling, it isn't mind boggling by any means just not typical for a girl and was getting darn right angry and giving me a hard time as she was trying to get it written and taking it out on me. Finally I snapped and said seriously how can you be frustrated with me right now? in a not so nice tone. I waited much longer than I should have, my punishment. Humans. :cautious:
I hear that. My name is a boys name too.
