@donaldtoo , It's been a few weeks since your son's work accident. Just wondering how his leg and ankle are coming along in the healing process. I hope he's doing better, as time progresses.

Healing-wise, he’s doin’ about as well as can be expected. Physically, he says he feels weaker than when he was so active at work (lifting, climbing, etc.), and that’s bumming him out.
Also, the immobility continues to be very frustrating for him. He wears a boot when he’s out and about (he and Carolyn went to the park yesterday with Megan, Emmy, and Audrey) for protection, but, he’s also still using the walker.
And, there’s the possibility that he may be left with a bit of a permanent limp. We just don’t know yet.
There’s a bunch of PT in his future, so time will tell.

Thanks for asking, Minnie…!!! :)

That's all a challenge for a usually active young man to deal with. He has to keep telling himself that each day, some progress will be made. I hope he has some low impact hobbies like music, movies, or reading, that can help a bit with all the down time. Even though he had to use a walker in the park, I'm sure that just getting out with the ladies must have cheered him up. (His PT coming up in the future, will also assist in his recovery.)

I hope they are not dragging on purpose to get paid more.. Is it s fixed price contract?
Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's fixed. When we bought this house, we had a choice to buy or rent. All the houses are exactly the same...like 300 of them. We bought ours, but like 240 of them are rented out. They realtor who owns the rentals decided to make all the rentals more energy efficient. They got a company to canvas the neighborhood with all the people who OWN their homes to see if they wanted to sell their houses back to the realtor. If not, you had the option of getting the group rate for making the houses more energy efficient. The kind of mortgage we have was a "Buy-sure" mortgage meaning that we got a lower price, but we had to agree to sell it back to the realtor first if we ever move. We can't just put it on the market. We have to give the realtor the first chance to buy it back. So knowing they will eventually get it back, they have an interest in keeping it nice and keeping it uniform with the other properties. So any time they are doing work on their properties, they give the home owners in the same area the opportunity to have their house done too. This time, the homeowners had to wait until all 240 of the rentals were done before it was our turn. But now they are working on several of the owned properties at once. They just didn't send enough workers. It shouldn't cost us any more to do because it's not something that was our fault or something that delayed it. It was poor planning on their part.

Agree, plus its better to just have a limp than lose all his functionality!
hopefully he will make full recovery.

Bought mine yesterday. I got Oreo fudge, Sherbet fudge, Very Cherry fudge, Mint Chocolate Swirl fudge, Tiramisu fudge, Milk Chocolate Fudge (got that flavor of fudge for free), peanut butter fudge, and one more flavor I forgot what I got.

I might get more tomorrow due to not going to Barrel Room yet on the trip. Barrel Room is one of the shops that is located in the downtown part of the village that I am staying in.

I'm assuming you won't be eating all that fudge, as one snack only. ;)

Curious: how long does fudge keep fresh? Is there any special way to either wrap it up, or put in some sort of airtight container? (I've only had fudge a few times down through the years, and I vaguely recall that the shelf life wasn't too long, before it could get somewhat stale.) I love the taste of fudge, but not many places around here sell it anymore.

A week in the fridge properly wrapped, from what I've read as it's never lasted that long with my guys:cautious:
You could always make your own
oops never mind;)

For a week at best without freezing it.

In years past, I freeze my fudge. What I do is wrap the fudge up in plastic wrap and what I use to store the fudge in the freezer depends if the fudge comes with plastic container. If the fudge didn't come with a plastic container, I use a freezer bag after wrapping the fudge up in plastic wrap before putting in freezer.

Door County has a good amount places selling fudge. Some of those stores sell fudge in plastic containers and some don't. I like to buy fudge by 1 piece each fudge instead of getting a whole container that has only one flavor of fudge in each container.

I have a feeling the breakfast items I bought on Thursday wouldn't last 2 whole days if your boys had access to them;). What I bought was 2 morning buns, 6 apple cider donuts, and 6 cherry donuts.

The morning buns were on sale on Thursday.

Here is the best fudge I have ever had. Many will say it is a copout, but if that is the case I prefer it to the complex way. Here is what you need. I got this recipe on You Tube (2 ingredient fudge "Hillbilly Kitchen")

1 12oz bag of Hershey (or your favorite) semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 14oz can of (any brand) Sweetened Condensed Milk (must be sweetened)'
1 mixing bowl
1 stirring devise either a strong spatula or a wooden spoon
1 microwave (1000w) less than that might require additional 15 second to get it all blended)
1 wax paper lined square cake pan.

Mix the chips and Condensed milk together well in bowl ( you can add walnuts at this point if you want. I prefer my chocolate straight)

Place bowl in the Microwave on high for 30 seconds

Mix the bowl well again (You will see that the chips are starting to melt)

Place it back in the Microwave for another 30 seconds

Stir it again for 30 seconds or until it is all blended and the mixture get glossy and starts to thicken. (if you have a weaker Micro you may need to put it back in for 15 seconds and stir again. Repeat this until you get that gloss, you'll know it when you see it)

Pour the contents into the cake pan and spread it out as best you can.

Put the pan in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours and I promise that you will practically destroy your pancreas within a few days and storage for a long period of time will not be necessary, but it can be frozen. The Fridge will do fine after you cut it up into squares and put it in a covered plastic storage container.

The wax paper is just for easy removal from the cake pan, use some extra wax paper over the edge of the pan as a handle and you won't even have to wash the pan.

You can convince everyone what a great chef you are as long as you don't tell them how easy it was. I had an Aunt that did that for years and sent fudge out to everyone at Christmas time no one knew but we all looked forward to her fudge and didn't know we could easily make it in less than 2 minutes.
