The Chit Chat Chit Chat Thread

My first year in High School was in a very Catholic boarding/local school in a very quiet town where the only thing to do was watch the grass grow down by the courthouse. I was local! That was in upper, upper New York State just 20 miles from the Canadian Border.

Anyway, two seniors got bored one weekend and called the Buick Dealership and made an appointment to see a car they were interested in on a Sunday when the place was otherwise closed. The details of what they used for a reason has either escaped my memory or I have buried it real deep in my mind, but after they got there they grabbed a spare tire wrench from the garage, I guess, and proceeded to kill the salesman with it and take the car for a joy ride in the area. It took a while for this to be discovered, but they never left the area and abandoned it just a couple of blocks from the high school. It isn't necessary to say just how dumb they were. Other kids in the dorm noticed that they had blood all over their clothing and didn't seem to think that anything would come of the whole incident. They both received life in prison with NO bail. You could feel the shock and disbelief in the city and school for many months after that happened. Apparently the Religion part of the school had no affect on them at all. That was in 1962, just before Christmas
I didn't remember any student did a killing at the high school I went, but there was a student that attempted arson instead when I was Junior in High school back in the 90s. It made the local news at night. I heard at the time that the student used a lighter and set something on fire.

Everyone in the school had to leave the building including me being carried out. I was carried out because I was still recovering from my fractured hip at the time. I had to use a cane, and the teacher thought it was quicker for me to get out of the building by me getting carried. I can't recall the amount of time the entire school had to be outside.

What I recalled was when the fire alarm went off, I was in class on the 3rd floor and there was no smoke on that floor, 2nd, and 1st floor according to memory.

I recalled somehow the student that did the crime was not kicked out of the school at all based on 2nd hand information I heard at the time.

Well, Matthew fell off the top of a Gaylord at work, that he was adjusting items at the top of in a truck, and totally destroyed his left ankle. Multiple breaks/fractures. He ended up on his back in the truck and says he couldn’t move. He was by himself, and it took him a few minutes of calling out before a coworker finally heard him, then they called 911.
They reset it as best they could for now, but, he’ll need surgery tomorrow. He’s pretty drugged up right now, so not feelin’ any major pain.
Not sure how he’s gonna’ handle all this, as it looks like it’s gonna’ be a lengthy recovery.

I'm sorry that happened to him. I hope the surgery goes well.
