The vast majority of my relatives were born and raised in small-town Texas, and peh-cahn is always the way the word was pronounced.
Pecan is also the Texas State Tree, which I posted the other day.
Have any of y’all ever “trashed” pecans…?!?!?! 🤔:hilarious:
We used to do it on my Pop’s folks farm back in the day. There were several huge pecan trees that grew down by the creek. When they were ready for harvesting we had these really long cane poles we used to knock the pecans outta’ the trees…buckets full.
Pop still sells the pecans from the trees in their yard to a guy that then resells ‘em…!!! :)
