Not all cases. A motel owner in Door County like snow. She does for three reasons with one of them being Door County actually depends on snow for tourism for winter economy. The two reasons for her are personal due to her liking snowmobiling and ice fishing.

Door County is a rural region with small villages and towns besides having a lot of trees. The nature of Door County really depends on tourism although I'm guess its bigger for summer.

Door County has some seasonal businesses and they are closed in winter months and a part of spring. I can't answer on how the camping grounds in Door County are during the winter time.

Snow plays a role of making up for businesses being closes starting in October/or end of November depending on the business/owner and it reopens in April or May depending on the nature of the business/or the owner. Door County is known for their fruit trees such as cherry trees, but they can't grow in Wisconsin during the cold and snowy months.
You are describing understanding a benefit and appreciating that benefit with physically liking something. If you rely on snow, for example, to support yourself you may be glad to see it, but that doesn't mean that you automatically think numb fingers, wet clothing, frozen nose snot, hazardous driving, cost of heating your home and a multitude of other things connected with that "white gold" are enjoyable or something that is positive. Yes, the end result is important for staying alive, but one can stay alive in warmer climate as well and with far less negative requirements. The only thing you hear about with warm weather is "it's to hot" or it's not the heat it's the humidity". Since the invention of air conditioning even that is just a minor problem. When I compared the two, warm wins every time.:)

When is that it wasn't, including the revolutionary war? Wasn't all the traumatic back then. In fact, as little as 3 years ago no one seemed to care.
Secretary of Treasury Alexander Hamilton came up with a plan to establish a national debt after the union was formed. The northern states had the most debt after the war with the southern states having their debts paid off (primarily due to slavery). Then he established taxes, which of course people didn't like because that's the exactly why they dumped the British overlords in the first place, so there were some rebellions to quell. Anyway, that was how a national debt was established and we've had one ever since.

But before that, the reason for the war was because Britain had a war to pay for (French Indian War...do we still call it that?) and thought the colonies should pay for it. The problem was that most colonists actually had very little money on them; they dealt primarily with each other in a barter system. This was opposed to in England where they did carry money. So taxes on most people would have been a hardship, and they wanted representation which they weren't given.

We've retained this very anti-tax attitude as one of my professors, who was Eastern European and taught an economics class, pointed out. Most Europeans are far less tax averse than Americans are.
