It's probably more a regional thing up here in MA --hence, the Cape Codder name. Don't think I've ever tried one, but know that it was a popular drink for others, at least years ago it was. Plus, various drinks go through various phases of popularity -- not sure it it's still as well liked now, as in the past..

I’ve searched, and strained (what’s left of 😉) my brain, and can’t remember what we called it back in the early 80’s…?!?!?! 🤔
Probably has somethin’ to do with the fact that we were also doin’ a bit of cocaine back then, as well…!!!!! :cautious::cool::D:hilarious::cautious:🤪🤣

We just got moved into the 12+ inches of snow color on the weather bleep's map. I'm going to try and send it to @MinnieM123 but we are spending today cooking just in case. We'll be starting with the old standby groundhog chili and cornbread

We got 4 inches of snow last night, and it is still lightly snowing. Tomorrow starts cabin fever week for the middle school student . The theme of tomorrow’s dress up day is tropical, I’m definitely digging out a tropical disney shirt !

Hey @Figgy1 -- I bought some corned beef for this Friday. I went early to the grocery store this morning, to find a smaller 1 1/2 pd. package. (Last year, the smallest package I could find was almost 4 pounds -- way too much for us.)

Anyway, I zipped past the cabbage (🤮), but I did buy 2 potatoes. I already had a few carrots at home, so we're all set for St. Patrick's Day! :joyfull:

One homemade drink that keeps being made is moonshine. Drive on I-95 South around exit 21 in SC and there are makeshift wood signs nailed to trees advertising moonshine that has been there for many years . Follow dirt roads to simple surroundings and this alcohol concoction will kick your butt and stomach for hours.
My cousin made that one time when I was down in SC. He did not believe me when I told him I wanted a straight shot. He gave me a mixed version, but also gave it to me straight because he didn't believe me.

Now, my cousin and I are nothing alike. He looks exactly like his dad, tall and thin, meanwhile I look (and act) very much like his mom, moreso than he does. You would think I was her kid and not him if you put the two of us with her and were asked to pick. So anyway, because my aunt basically choked on it, he swore up and down that there was no way I was drinking this moonshine.

Nope. I took the shot of it, handed him back the shot glass, and then told him it was good stuff. After I'd had a good bit of it, I was quite tipsy, but never made it to drunk. He still is amazed by this; tells the story of his five foot cousin who's a heavyweight when it comes to moonshine. I told him it's because I come from a long line if alcoholics on my mom's side.

Anyone watching some, or all, of the Oscars tonight? I'll watch a bit of it. (I haven't seen any of the movies, so I'm not really interested.) What I always do like is seeing the fashions on the stars, when they all walk the red carpet, prior to the event.

But I heard that they don't have a red carpet this time -- it's supposedly a champagne color?? :jawdrop: What the heck?!! Red is tradition!!

Would it surprise you to know I have the 2 largest briskets that were at the store in my freezer. That and 4 very large heads of cabbage, 10 pounds of carrots or is it 15 and 20 pounds of potatoes.
4 cabbage of the round regular green type, I wasn't counting the nappa or bok choi

I'll watch the fashion recaps at some point tomorrow, maybe as I have a gazillion things to do
I even changed out my nails because I probably won't have time before Wednesday or maybe Thursday. I'm now rocking the green and gold

I never watch them; I just follow who won. I REALLY hope Angela Bassett wins for Black Panther. Avatar is also up for a couple. Puss in Boots is also up for Best Animated Picture. I hope it wins, but I have a feeling it will lose out to Pinnochio.

I saw a promo earlier that was funny. Jimmy Kimmel is hosting, and there's been some deprecating humor on the promos. One was they went through all of the Steve's who could have hosted instead of him (Steve from Blue's Clues..."we begged Steve Harvey"). And then another one featured Billy Crystal, who declined to host because he "has a dentist appointment". 🤣 Honestly, I think the promos are probably going to be funnier than the actual show.

I've got "E" on, in the background. The stars are beginning to arrive now on the champagne carpet -- which the announcers are still referring to as the Red Carpet! :joyfull:

Seeing some great fashions so far.
