Holy cow -- I've been watching the Mecum auto auctions (venue is in Kissimmee, for this go around). (Motor Trend TV is broadcasting it "live" today.) I'm floored at the number of vehicles bringing in huge bids --and then the very high bids up through 2 million, and more!! :jawdrop:

Of course, I know practically nothing about cars in general, but I like watching these mega auctions -- with the high rollers in the VIP seats up front, and then there's the online bidders jacking up the prices as well. I like listening to the fast-talking auctioneers on the mike -- that's a talent in itself! :joyfull:

I didn't mention this, but I had to deal with the place that fill my medication earlier this week. It is a well know drugstore chain. They didn't let me know my medication is ready to be picked up despite it being in a bag. 2 of my medications were filled in the later part of December, but never contracted me. I did pick up, but it not supposed to be me contacting the store if my medication is already filled and ready to be picked up.

I think different pharmacies have different procedures. At mine, you have to sign up to be notified. (I'm not sure about yours, but it may be that they "might" have been a bit short staffed and busy over the holidays -- so maybe the notification aspect might have been temporarily thrown off.) But that's just a guess. Anyway, I'm glad you were able to get your medication.

Panama Canal 2022 Trip Report P12

Bonaire...

This port was kind of weird, there was not much to do cultural wise as every tour was more of the "paradise" type view, aka go to X place and swim or snorkel. That was the best of the place.

Also this port was the longest stay with 11 hours.

So we decided to go for a private your around the island to know most things and perhaps swim with turtles.

The port is pretty much straightforward.
Just go down, walk straight, past security and wait on the stairs for the tour operator to come.

We expected our tour operator to be there already but it wasn't, the good thing about being a small island is that everyone knew each other.
So it was just asking other tour operators and said we were fine where we were and that she could come soon. And indeed she came.

To our surprise, she was a Canadian diver expert that moved to Bonaire. She reminded me of my boss from my old job.
Turns out that she also does photo tours as well.

So the things to see here in Bonaire:

  1. Flamingos
  2. Salt Mines
  3. Slave Huts
  4. The Turtle beach
  5. Story of Town and island.
  6. The lighthouses and the Salt swamp entrance.
  7. The tallest mountain of Bonaire.

One thing that she warned us was 1) How good we swam 2) and how strong we were
Why? turns out that Bonaire harldy has any sandy beach, almost all of them are full of rocks and coral
And the best beach to see the turtles are some of the hardest to swim

So we just did the full tour of the island.

We stopped a few times to take some photos (me of course). She knew where I could find some birdies so I'm thankful for that.

The Salt Mines obviously..

We managed to get close to on one of the borders where you can pick chunks of salt.

Never imagined that the salt would end being a giant block like ice rink before being crushed and picked up.

The next part was the Flamingos, where sadly not many were there.

We were not in the season. Still caught a few going here and there, others washing themselves, others just sleeping.

Bonaire also was full of cactuses!

And pretty birds!

After the Flamingos, we were explained the full story.. from the spanish, the english, the dutch. The salt trade and the slave huts. As well as the trading points.

And also another island where water is obtained via de-salting sea water.

Our tour operator was proud of how clean the water was (she had some bottles and yep.. the water didn't have any taste and felt great, not heavy at all).

Gorgeous view from a tiny island next to the main one.

And on our way to the cruise. We were left in the town to view some local wares.
We thanked our operator and we went our way.

There was a really nice walk on the shore.

And then back to the Cruise!

Forgot to mention..
The islands are sort of close to Venezuela, and there are radars stationed facing Venezuelan side to catch for illegal immigrants and drug traffickers.

You could easily notice these radar stations on facing the continent.

Bonaire and Aruba being the ones with most stations.

Not a hidden secret but buying cars at auction and reselling them to get clean cash is common tactic that drug dealers and other criminal enterprises do to launder their dirty cash.

Well hopefully, that won't be the case, considering Mecum has 4,000 vehicles in this huge show (from Jan. 4-15, different days, etc.. on schedule). I'm sure that most of the buyers are just car freaks, with a ton of money! :joyfull:
