Turns out we started our Holiday Break an hour early today. A big storm was rolling in so we sent the students home an hour early, staff got to leave 30 minutes early. The temps were subzero when the snow started so the snow is light and fluffy. The snow will stop around 4 am but then the winds kick up. We aren't technically in the blizzard warning but wind gusts will achieve blizzard-like conditions. B and I have turned up the heat a little so make sure the house is warm enough for awhile in case the power goes out with the strong winds. I'm just glad we were already scheduled to be on holiday break tomorrow. So those of you wanting snow...I've got plenty.

according to the weather....this is the storm of the century. They are acting like it we're getting a biblical storm.

@Santa Racoon 77 , is there any tradition on your island to observe (or celebrate) Christmas Eve, in addition to Christmas Day? When I was a kid, my family only observed Christmas Day, but I had friends whose families also celebrated both days.
Different families have different traditions. Is it's all Christmas day.

I am not surprised. I had to deal with worse snowstorms though.

Back in 2011, I had to deal with Groundhog Day Blizzard. Groundhog Day Blizzard was 16 inches of snow in 24 hours time on Groundhog Day. The City I live in was shutdown for multiple days due to that Groundhog Day Blizzard. As bad as Groundhog Day Blizzard was for the city I live, there were nearby cities that got 2 feet of snow on that day.

Its safe to say people didn't like the groundhog in 2011 due to that blizzard.
