Nope. I never skied in my life and I have no plans on. My body would tell me try skiing is not a great idea at this point in my life.

I am at the point that my old injuries act up in certain types of weather and taking a chance of getting more injuries to my lower body is not a good idea. I have bad knees. I had a hip that got fractured back in mid 1990s and my body gets reminded of that with that hip acting up once in a while.

Snow tubing is fun. When I was a kid I had a plastic sled and there was a huge hill in our neighborhood to sled down, the worst part was climbing back up the hill and carrying the sled. Nowadays there are places that offer snow tubing then they have a towing rope, all you have to do is lay down on your tube and hold on to the rope as it takes you up the hill. Although the steeper the hill the harder it is to hold on to that rope!

My grandfather successfully avoided outdoor activities in the snow until well into his 80s. Some of the grandchildren talked him into sleigh riding, he went to Miami within a couple of days

I've never been in an actual sleigh but I've always wanted to, it seems romantic. One year when I was like 10 or 12 for our 4H Christmas party we went on a "sleigh" ride, it was just a hay wagon pulled by a tractor, I was so disappointed.

We did the first once and only once when I was a kid when we were in I think NH. We were on the border with Ma so it could have been either. I was not a fan. You couldn't pay me enough to do the 2nd

I think snowboarding is your game. I'm half joking as it's easier on knees, less likely to damage them than skiing but wrists are a different story.

I went on one of those (top picture) sleigh rides Quebec City on our honeymoon. We practically froze to death but it was nice for a honeymoon. We also had one of those locations on the mountain road in Stowe, VT. I never rode that one but it was a very popular spot.

@Santa Racoon 77 , any holiday happenings on your island, such as Christmas caroling groups, or Santa parades, etc.? (Or is it more low key, with people stopping by shops and restaurants, decorated for the holidays?) A few weeks ago, our area had a city tree-lighting event, with a few local musicians. Stores were decorated inside for the holidays. (I think the local merchants arranged/donated for the event, to help draw some business into the downtown area.)

Mr Ferret 75

Thank you sir. You were an inspiration.

No big holiday events as such. We do have a late night opening in our main shopping centre every Thursday in December. There are stalls and musicians there.
