Climate change was the smart thing to do.
There were too many idiotic people claiming "but its colder in my backyard today! global warming is a lie!"
Sure that happened. Yet don't you agree that the glaciers are melting because it is globally warming?
Didn't many of the posters on this thread have warmer weather than usual the last 7 weeks?
Is this an isolated thing or have we been moving in the "warmer" direction for years?
Yes we have.
🤔 How about we as a country be more flexible?
You call it climate change....I'll call it global warming.
No one is wrong. Either one is fine.
Just an idea.

It is called Climate Change instead of the original Global Warming. Yet Global Warming I feel IS the better terminology.
No one ever says the planet's oceans are getting cooler. Every report year after year says they are getting warmer.
I vote to go back to Global Warming ;)

You and @MinnieM123 want the cold, but I think you are outnumbered by people who don't mind wearing shorts and a t shirt on Nov. 7th.
I've saved a lot ($) this fall by hardly ever heating my home.
No ac needed.
No heat needed.
Temperatures in the 60s and 70s (for the most part) for 2 months has been awesome!
It is more to the point, but if we have found out nothing else in the last few years there are massive numbers of people that do not understand the concept of climate change involving global warming. They think that is you say global warming then it never should ever be cold out. Climate change helps to inject that amount of flexibility that can be better understood. The concept of common sense reasoning and abstract thought are a dead concepts in this country. Those that only allow themselves to believe what they want to believe are getting to be a very large group.

It seems you misunderstood what I tried to say.

I said that the change of naming from "global warming" to "climate changing" was good in my opinion.
Not because while both technically are correct, the first had a connotation that was used as a battle attack by deniers.
Because some people were refusing to accept the facts or proof (as you mentioned it, warmer, glaciers melting, etc..) under the excuse that "it was colder in Y place today!" because "global warming" means "just got hotter" from their point of view, and therefore being colder in X place would invalidates "global warming" on their minds.

Aka, they were embracing conspiracy theories, ignoring facts, etc.. under the sake of the "global warming" is a "lie".

By using "climate change" it would technically deny others from using that silly excuse for just technicalities like the name. After all, global warming causes severe disruptions and makes severe weather swings.

From what I read climate change involves more then global warming. That is a huge part of it, but it encompasses many things like storm cycles and locations, axis tilting of the earth, changes in climate in different hemispheres, etc. Global warming may be the catalist but, it is so much more then that.

It's the same as the idiot that coined the phrase defunding the police instead of adjusting the responsibilities of police from mental health care to strictly police work. Fools ran with that spouting that people wanted to get rid of the police instead of just letting them concentrate on law inforcement and not psychiatry and since abstract thought wasn't available the literal interpretation was immediately assumed.

Everyone is presenting their points so well. Nice job!

Reminder to peeps who are up early today. The "Blood Moon eclipse" is supposed to be visible (EASTERN Time) from 5:16 AM - 5:59 AM approximately. Should be cool. Supposed to be red.

Unlike other eclipses, this one is SAFE on your eye to view without any filters, special glasses, etc. (I heard that fact mentioned on a few different programs I watched last night.)

Global Warming or what some call Climate Change has been the buzzword leading up to today Nov 8 Tuesday in their hopes and dreams . . Some who talk this lately wouldn't even mention it several years ago. Get out and make a difference! Global warming had been the term until many years ago it was suggested by a person in DC to change it to climate change to make the term less offensive and frightening.

You make it sound like using climate change is just a psychological "trick". It is a better way to say it but, like I said, what is happening is far more then just a warming. It also states, truthfully, that even though the actions of mankind have influenced it to some degree, the planet has had many climate changes that occurred well before mankind existed. Think about how at one point about a third of the North American continant was covered with glacers. At that point global warming might have sounded like a great idea. It was always cold out during that time. The earth naturally changes and even though it is probably true that our actions have, perhaps, been speeding things up a little, it is an absolutely natural event. Being such we either have to find a way to adjust to it or parish. It may be scarry but it is also factual and we also need to get our collective heads out of our butt and start to take positive action. The planet will be around a long time, it is human kind that will be gone. The earth is not in trouble, we are.

It was predicted years ago that we were going to see a return to a more wild side of weather due to natural cycles and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to have noticed that weather has been far more threatening then in the past. We cannot change the weather, we can only adapt to it and make it livable by adjusting ourselves to do what is needed to survive.
